SYNTHSPO Moog Grandmother & Mother-32 Videos
Published on May 23, 2018 subfifth recordings
Playlist:
1. Moog Grandmother Patch Demo (5 total, 2 w/ Daft Punk sequences) - SYNTHSPO #004
Moog Grandmother Patches (5 total, 2 w/ Daft Punk sequences) - SYNTHSPO #0042. Moog Grandmother + Strymon El Capistan (Boards of Canada Sequence) - SYNTHSPO #003
Here are a couple patches I recorded the other day, the latter four of which are from the Grandmother user manual. (I wanted to record the whole set for 14 but also want to move on to some actual music making!) For those of you wanting to hear what this synth can do, I hope this provides a broader sense of its sonic capabilities (even if a bit self-indulgent at times with the Daft Punk...). Strymon El Capistan used a couple times throughout for delay, as well as the TC Electronic Hall of Fame 2 reverb pedal.
To skip around:
00:00 Aerodynamic (patch *not* from the manual)
03:14 Dynasty Plucks
04:53 Funky Robot
06:27 Showdown Guitar
07:32 Haunted Cave
3. Moog Grandmother Semimodular Synth (Stranger Things-inspired Sequence) - SYNTHSPO #002
4. Moog Mother-32, Eventide H9 (Blackhole), and Roland MX-1 - SYNTHSPO #001

New Syncussion SY1-M by PsyCo X
via PsyCoX
"THE SYNCUSSION SY1-M KIT IS A FAITHFUL REPRODUCTION OF THE CLASSIC 1970'S DRUM SYNTHESIZER WITH THE ADDITION OF MIDI. THE POWER SUPPLY HAS ALSO BEEN ENHANCED TO PROVIDE SILENT OPERATION.
KIT TO INCLUDE: PCB'S, POWDER-COATED AND PRINTED METAL ENCLOSURE, SLIDE POTENTIOMETERS, SLIDER CAPS,
AN RF CHOKE FOR THE POWER SUPPLY FILTER
AND A PRE-PROGRAMMED ATMEGA328"
Demo posted here yesterday. I originally thought this was a build of the TTSH SY1 clone by PsyCo X. Apparently it's not. It's actually a new project by designed by simon cox aka psycho x, and has nothing to do with the human comparator.
Erika on Analog Synthesis | Red Bull Music Academy
Published on May 23, 2018 Red Bull Music Academy
"In this episode of Studio Science, recorded in her home studio in Detroit, Erika uses the same Roland SH-101 synthesizer she was first tasked with upon joining Ectomorph two decades ago to break down her approach to analog synthesis. She details how synthesis lies at the root of her creative process and explains how she uses it to create sketches of songs, as well as improvised performances.
From an early age, Erika showed an affinity for technology and using it to express herself. At age 13 she was running a Bulletin Board System from her bedroom. In 1997, after moving to Ann Arbor, Michigan, she joined local techno outfit Ectomorph and “went to bootcamp,” as she recalls, learning about programming and performing live electronic music. Two years later, in 1999, she set up erika.net, a freeform streaming radio station that ran for 17 years. Today, the producer and musician continues to perform and release music both on her own and as one-half of Ectomorph alongside Brendan M. Gillen, with whom she also runs the Interdimensional Transmissions label.
The Red Bull Music Academy is a global music institution committed to fostering creativity in music. We celebrate music, its culture, and the transformative minds behind it. Begun in 1998, the Academy has taken the core principles that underlie its annual workshop for selected participants and applied this curatorial approach to events, lectures, and city-wide festivals throughout the year."

Make Noise tELHARMONIC 1/5: Overview; Setting Up (LMS EE)
Published on May 25, 2018 Learning Modular
"The Make Noise tELHARMONIC includes three different synthesis algorithms – additive, noise, and phase modulation – with a 'music theory' control section that can intelligently arrange the three internal voices into a variety of detunings and triads.
This movie provides an overview of the module, including advice on initializing it to give you a stable platform from which to explore it. The movie breaks down like this:
0:00 overview
0:45 blind exploration
1:24 initial set-up: sound generation section
2:13 initial set-up: Music Theory section
3:39 tuning to a reference
4:19 exploring the sound generation side
The remaining movies explore each of its three synthesis algorithms in detail, as well as the Music Theory section. It is available to my Patreon supporters as well as those who have access to my Eurorack Expansion course on LearningModular.com:

Analog Presets on a Cathedral Pipe Organ - Vox Humana
Brian Comnes sent in these images of a cathedral pipe organ's presets (more pics below). I noticed on the far right what looks like "Voix Humana". Those of you familiar with classic preset patches should recognize "Vox Humana" as one of the classic patches on the preset version of the Moog Polymoog. The patch was famously used by Gary Numan. The "Voix Humana" got me wondering if the Polymoog patch may have been based on a common organ patch. I did some searching on YouTube and found the video below. What do you all think?
