"Yamaha wasn't the only company meddling with FM synthesis. The DS-8 is a four operator FM synth from Korg that makes for a nice alternative to the DX7. Some major advantages include built-in FX and a few controls that allow you to quickly edit some parameters. While the DX7 is the classic and is in my top 3 favorite synths, the DS-8 is definitely worth checking out if want FM hardware that isn't another Yamaha. It also seems to have a more noisy and lo-fi quality to it."

"I always vowed never to upload to YouTube my murdering the usual suspects of the classical music world. At least, on piano. If I'm going to murder something, I'll do it in my own way.

I have a few Classical friends. You likely know the kind. Occasional cigar smokers who spend 15 minutes reading wine bottle labels.

Anyway, one of them commented on my recording cover versions of works. ...I think it came as a revelation to him that Classical musicians are, in fact, cover artists.

When you sit a score in front of you, you are playing a cover.

Stephen Hough is a cover artist. As is Kempff etc.

When I broke this news to him, he almost vomited.

I promised him a recording of a standard classical repertoire piece to make up for the pain and suffering I brought upon him. Hence this work.

If you are unfortunate enough to attend music school, you'll be drilled RE how important original interpretation is. Then reprimanded when you don't play exactly like your tutor. Chiptune Chopin is quite original. It has a certain ring to it.

This version I also performed in a western/saloon style.

Chopin. He hasn't composed much recently. Must investigate further.
