F.M. Synthesis. A Catalogue of Materials. 02 Wood
Published on Nov 2, 2018 Element433
All parts here.
"This is the second installment from the 'FM Catalogue of Materials' synthesis cinematic videos.
These are intermediate level F.M. synthesis, so they require a little knowledge of synthesis in general. Each video contans the blueprint for the synthesis of the basic sound of physical resonant materials such as metal, wood, air, strings as used in musical instruments. Some of the videos cover more abstract electronic Sounds and SFX.
The parameters on the videos are from the VOPM free FM plugin. They are the same as the Yamaha FB01 and CX5M. They will work on most Yamaha 4 operator FM synths. They work well on, Preen FM2, Korg early FM synths and NI FM7 and FM8 too

Synthesis Parameters
The idea behind this series is to provide the most universal F.M. parameters (mainly frequency ratio data) from which to create variations of the 'material' timbres in the videos. You will be surprised how much variation is possible by changing the fundamental frequency and the inharmonic frequency of the bells.
LFO. This is the most important parameter for creating the "woodiness".
The LFO wave must be a random wave (sometimes called Sample and Hold)
Set the speed to max and then dial in depth/intensity until you get the wood texture. You will also notice it creates ambient reverberation. Unfortunately the DX7 LFO's are to slow to create this effect. On the Sy77 and TG77 use a noise operator as an alternative.
Levels and Envelopes
Level and envelope data varies quite a lot depending on the model of F.M. device you have so they were omitted here, however, it is fairly easy to work them out by listening and following the order in the video.
1. Make sure you have the correct algorithm.
2. Start with the first operator as the loudest operator (full level). Then get the level for each subsequent operator. Follow the order in which they are switched on in the video and experiment to get the timbre as close to the videos as possible.
2. The envelopes are pretty easy to work out and are fairly obvious if you listen to each operator as it is switched on in the video.
Unfortunately because of time constraints, I am unable to offer support."
Two Memorymoogs (by Synthpro)

"Hey Guys,
I decided to do something a little different tonight. I just rebuilt this Memorymoog Plus, (the unit closest to me in the video) for my friend Mitch and couldn't resist playing two memorymoogs together.
Its a very rough take but just having some fun.
My personal memorymoog has some of my own programming and am running it through a Pigtronix Echolution pedal.
Thanks for watching and all the support!
sincerely,
Jareth"

AJH Synth MiniMod Eurorack System patch/performance
Published on Nov 1, 2018 DreamsOfWires
"AJH Synth MiniMod system jam. I was learning how to use the AJH DH-ADSR module as an LFO (looping mode) and it evolved into a patch and a simple drone-like composition, which I decided to record.
Turn on subtitles for a description of what is going on in the patch.
Modules used: AJH VCOx3, Ladder filter, Sonic XV, Ring SM, DH-ADSR and VCA. Frequency Central Waverunner. Expert Sleepers FH-1.
Recorded into AUM on an iPad, with Audio Damage EOS2 reverb.
Arturia Keystep and Korg Nanokey 2 controllers.
iConnectivity iConnectAUDIO4+ audio interface.

Negative Filter Envelope's can be a little tricky to get your head around as the the audible response is often, counter intuitive...That said, we need to use them to make certain sounds, like this...An Eastern Flute."
Crumar DS2 Vintage Analog Digital Synthesizer Ableton Live Instrument Megapack

"The Crumar DS2 Ableton Megapack
check it out here
http://expandingsound.com/product/cru...
The Crumar DS2 is one of the coolest synths I've ever played. It oozes with character. Ive never played a synth that sounds quite like it.
I was lucky enough to get my Crumar DS2 at an estate sale. Someone with a studio had passed away and the widow decided to have her neighbor sell all the contents. I went to the sale to pick up a Linn Drum I saw in posted pictures. Naturally, I snagged the Linn Drum right away. I then noticed this old beat up Crumar case on the side of the lawn. I opened it and inside was a very worn DS2. It needed a ton of work. But I knew how cool these synths can be, so I took it to a local music shop. A few months worth of repairs and she's back in action.
The best way to explain the Crumar DS2 is that it does things its own way. Its LFO mixer section is pretty wild. This synth can do anything from melodic strings to wild retro sound effects. I tried to incorporate the best of its sound palate into this pack. Some sounds are very straight, some sounds have crazy modulation on them. This pack would be serviceable on any project you have, and it will sound great.
With this pack you get
26 Ableton Live Multisampled instruments, all with different samples and soundscapes!
I hope you enjoy it! This pack is up there as one of my favorites I've made so far."

Two CATCH VCO-A oscillators have been used, of which one modulates the PWM of the second VCO by the Pulse output. Furthermore, there is the VCF-A and the ADSR-A."
Crazy Cat Jam

Wait for it.
"Hey folks, it’s the day after Halloween and I thought I’d share a silly little jam I did that utilizes to new modules. New to the collection are the 2hp Cat and Freez modules. To add to the choir of meowdness, I used a sample and hold LFO to modulate the sample rate on the Freez, I ran the Cat and Minibrute 2 through the EMW mixer, then ran one side out to the DLY and Verb modules. I ran one side of the Verb through the Freez, then the Blue Lantern Wave folder, then back into the mixer. This created a cacophonous loop of feline skullduggery and synth. Needless to say, Charlie, my cat, was not impressed. It’s a light-hearted Jam, but as soon as I can, I will be doing something a little more interesting soon enough, as I do have another module on the way."
