Novation Circuit - Gradient

"About a month ago, I bought an Arturia MicroFreak to add another synth track to my Circuit. The MicroFreak was fun to play around on, but I had a hard time making sounds that integrated well into my tracks. I ended up selling it, and went for something a little more unconventional: a cheap electric guitar off Craiglist! It doesn't get more analog than that :P

The only exposure I've ever had to guitar was a half-year class in junior high, so I hope I don't offend any guitarists with my awful playing. I think it sounds really nice with the Circuit, though! Nobody cares about your technique when you drown your playing in reverb and delay, right?

The Circuit is sending mono out to one input of my Scarlett 2i2. The guitar is sent to the other input, and processed with the HyBrit Amp Modelling VST by LePou, TAL Reverb 4, delay, and compression. The final track was then mastered with Ozone Elements 8."

The X-Y pads, which have main Functions (Filter, FX, Decay, Length) that affect all 6 Tracks at the same time, allow you to change the sound creatively.

I`ve got my hands on the new JU-06A. Mainly I`ve concentrated on the Juno-60 emulation but of course the 106 side was used too.

Every sound (the drums too) comes from the JU-06A. Beside some low cut at 30Hz (heavy bass in some cases) and some limiting there`s no EQ, compression or external FX."

"This is the first episode of PURE ANALOG -- a project to find out and show the qualities of analog synthesizers and eventually also hybrids. And exciting Question is also how contemporary synths like this lush GRP A-2 or EREBUS NYX compare to vintage legends like MINIMOOG or ARP ODYSSEY or ROLAND JUPITER 4 etc. So this piece will be played and performed with different synths in the future track by track recorded in DAW without any equing or otherwise processed in DAW, no add modulation, reverb, saturatio or other FX. Only a mastering compressor, EQ and Limiter is used on the sum. So what you hear is completely un-FX-ed material -- almost impossible to find these days!!!"

"Using the new AJH Precision Voltages Eurorack module in a real-time performance/recording. Also using the Wave Swarm to create string and choir-like timbres. All sounds are purely analogue (all from the AJH Synth system), no samples, and only digital reverb is added. This composition is a work-in-progress for a future Bandcamp release/album, and I have shortened it for the purposes of this video. See 'About...' at the end of the description.

The incredibly useful Precision Voltages module makes a lot of things possible in performances that I've wanted to do for some time, and you'll be seeing it in future videos too. I've also used the Wave Swarm which can take the sound of a single VCO and create some very dense, haunting timbres, sometimes reminiscent of choirs, strings, and particularly old string synths of the past.
