"This Axxe is in really nice shape for its age.

It wasn't working when I got it so I went through and serviced the synthesizer.

Every single slider was removed, disassembled and cleaned.

The sliders move freely and work well.

I changed out most of the capacitors and removed some faulty components.

I got a set of brand new slider caps that are all red."

The Noiseblast Hour

Published on Oct 27, 2019 Noise Engineering

"Live from the Noise Engineering headquarters in Los Angeles, CA, it's the Noiseblast Hour, brought to you by Noise Engineering, hosted by Pyraphonic (aka Shawn Jimmerson)! This is the third installment in a series of indeterminate length and sporadic release (h/t Roman Mars). Watch here for future episodes!

In today's episode, we have Patrick O'Brien, aka POB, and BBoyTech. Stay tuned after each set for a short interview with the performers!

Patrick O'Brien aka POB is a modular synth performer based in Los Angeles. Patrick grew up outside of St. Louis, classically trained on both piano and trumpet, which comes through in his melodic performances. Patrick is also part of the Modular on the Spot organizational team that sets up free outdoor public modular synth performances each month in LA. You can catch his live performances on YouTube as obrienmedia and Instagram as pobenergy.

A pioneering figure of the Modbap community and movement, Corry Banks (aka BboyTech) coined the term Modbap as a representation of his experiments in blending hip-hop and boombap production styles with modular synthesis. As the founder of both BBoyTechReport.com (Music tech blog for Beatmakers) and Beatppl.com (Music and sound design label / brand), BboyTech focuses on assuring the voice of hip-hop is present in music technology by combining his passions for hip-hop music and his experience as an IT professional into a platform for like-minded individuals and peers. Since then, his innovative contributions in Modbap have nurtured a movement in experimental modular synth based hip-hop production.

Arduino synthesizer and sequencer

Published on Sep 10, 2017 Ákos Turi

"This is an 8bit wavetable synthesizer and 8 step sequencer. I used only an Arduino Pro Mini, some 4051 multiplexer and few pots and buttons. Every sound comes from the synth except a little reverb."

"bitsynth

An arduino based simple synth and sequencer.

original synth engine made by

https://github.com/dzlonline/the_synth

statistics library made by

https://github.com/dndubins/QuickStats

This is a very simple arduino based wavetable synth with control and sequence functions. I made it with Arduino Nano. I am not an expert coder. If you find the code a little dodgy, feel free to make it transparent. Originally I made this stuff for my own usage. Later I would like to update the code with comments and attach the schematic.

start

Copy the files into a folder. Download and copy the 3rd party sources (the_synth, QuickStats, LiquidCrystal) to the folder as well. Open the sequencer.ino with the IDE. Try to compile the project. If you get errors double-check the included libraries and the path."

Overlooked Module: Pittsburgh Crush

Published on Oct 27, 2019 poorness studios

"I'm going to do a series on some of the Eurorack modules I feel are commonly overlooked. This is the first, and I showcase the Pittsburgh Modular Crush. It's a cool module and you can find them dirt cheap on the used market."

Definitely overlooked. The Pittsburgh Modular Crush appears to have only been mentioned once before on the site back in 2015.
