Buchla Music Easel V
Published on Apr 2, 2020 CatSynth TV
"A detailed look at the Buchla Easel V, a recreation by Arturia of the original Buchla Music Easel. We introduce its connection to so-called 'West Coast Synthesis', explore several factory presets, and walk through the synthesizer functions and sound design.
00:23 Don Buchla and West Coast Synthesis
01:22 Introduction to the Buchla Music Easel V
02:10 Factory Presets
05:23 Sound design with the basic Music Easel features (LPGs, oscillators, and CV sources)
17:11 Using the advanced features designed by Arturia (complex modulation, FX engine)
'The Buchla Easel V faithfully reproduces Buchla’s Music Easel that helped define West Coast synthesis’ focus on experimentation and breaking musical norms. We’ve applied our award-winning TAE™ modeling technology from the front panel to the resistors to capture it all with incredible realism.
Complex oscillator design, AM and FM synthesis, uniquely percussive gate/filter combos, and numerous ways to modulate and clock just about every parameter, all drop you right in the middle of a sonic sandbox. Design and perform soundscapes that burble, shimmer, pulse and evolve without ever touching a keyboard or pad—unless you want to add even more control.'"

Noodlebox Serendipity Seeks Funding on Indiegogo
Published on Apr 2, 2020 Jason Hotchkiss
"We have today launched an Indiegogo campaign to take pre-orders for our Noodlebox Serendipity Sequencer https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/no...
Noodlebox is a four part analog and MIDI sequencer stuffed with features for live jamming and improvisation. It has been a long time in the making - perhaps you saw the prototype at Superbooth 2019 or one of the other shows it visited early last year... well now we are finally at a point where we can start take pre-orders and move forward with production of the first batch.
The production units are finished to a higher standard than the prototype, with wood and extruded aluminium construction, but they share the same clear LED matrix display and fun workflow. Take a look at our Indiegogo campaign and see what you think.
Thank you for your interest in our products. We hope that you are all staying safe in these odd times."

$6,879.78 Buchla 266 Source of Uncertainty

This appears to be the front panel of an original 1976 Buchla 266 Source of Uncertainty with the guts and parts of a clone by Mark Verbos. The seller is Mark and you can find one featured on his website here. From the listing:
"Around 2001 Don Buchla had a 'garage sale' to get rid of the left overs from back in the day. The Audities Foundation synth museum in Canada walked out with a box full of unassembled and partial modules. In 2006 they hired me to build those up. This 266 is from that lot. It is built exactly to the original spec, but with the schematic errors in the design corrected and nice quality Alpha pots (not the plastic CTS garbage that the vintage ones used).
I have heard a rumor that the original product run was 10 units, so this is likely the only chance of getting one. Please do not contact me to tell me about how this is not original enough for you, just don't buy it. The last one from this lot that sold, sold for this price. Local pick up in Berlin is very much preferred."
Update: I'm hearing the number was closer to 30 units.

"It has a couple of small 'issues' (I hesitate to even call them issues because they are intermittent and easily fixed). First, I've noticed some odd tuning issues when the synth is plugged into a power strip with other equipment that require a lot of power. I've only ever noticed it when playing out (it's been lightly gigged, less than 15 shows in the last 8 years). When this happens, I simply plug it into its own power strip and that solves the issue.
The second issue is with the cutoff filter knob. On a few occasions, it sometimes lags or gets stuck on a particular setting. This first happened to me about 5 years ago. I took the synth in to get serviced and repaired by Patchwork repairs located in Brooklyn, NY. The issue was fixed and I had no issues for several years. Within the last year, it started to happen again - but VERY intermittently (twice in the last year, and this synth gets played probably 14+ hours a week). I took it in to get repaired but the issue is so intermittent that the technician was not able to re-create the issue. These issues are so mild and intermittent, especially with a synth this age, but I want to be completely transparent to anyone interested in buying this synth. I've never had any issues with the membrane or voice chips, and both times I've had a technician service it, everything else was in excellent condition."
