"This item has a minor issue with the ADSR on the VCA I believe. It works like an ASR or something like that. I cannot describe the defect any further or better than that."

"This is a 90's Roland Super JD-990. Arguably the best Synth Module that Roland ever produced. It’s been 22 years since its release and the unit is still going strong. Even the latest in Roland’s series, Integra, is in fact based on the DNA of the legendary JD-990. This particular unit has not been used very much at all in the last 10 year. It's been in storage in a rack mount with my other home studio equipment. Having 3 kids did not allow me the space or time to keep up with my side music career. I've cleaned it thoroughly and tested it to be in good working condition. Sounds are amazingly good on this synth."

Are ROMplers "real" synthesisers? & Pushing a Table

Floyd Steinberg

Two videos featuring the Yamaha EX5 by Floyd Steinberg. The Yamaha EX5 is one powerful synth.

Pushing a table. (Sampling, Yamaha EX5, Digitone)

Floyd Steinberg
Update: video renamed to: Pushing this table creates an AWESOME sound (sound design)

"I accidentally pushed a table across the floor, creating an surprisingly pleasing sound. A nice opportunity for some putting the EX5's sampler into action, accompanied by some nice FM drums from the Digitone! (Track begins at 2:24)"

Modulation - Summit Series // Novation

NovationTV

NovationTV Summit Series

"In this Summit deep dive, -CALC- takes a look at the modulation opportunities available in the synth. Summit is packed with modulation sources for deep and totally tactile sound design – LFOs, envelopes, animate buttons and more.

With its multitimbral architecture and 16 voices of polyphony, Summit is like two Peaks in one instrument, enabling two completely independent patches to be split or layered across the keyboard, or switched between on the fly. And, that’s not the end of it: the addition of dual filters, greatly extended front panel controls, audio input and the same premium-quality five-octave keyboard introduced with our SL MkIII MIDI controller, put Summit in a creative league of its own.

Yamaha Portasound PS-1 - bonus demo

Alfonse

"Yamaha Portasound PS-1 keyboard (1980)

This tune was my first (or was it second?) attempt at writing something on the PS-1, before scrapping it in favour of the one I eventually put out a few months back: [posted here]

One of the first three portable keyboards that Yamaha produced for the home market in 1980, the PS-1 was the most compact, with only 4 voices and 4 rhythms to work with.

All sounds you hear in the track were made using the PS-1 and run through various single effects pedals (TC Electronic Sub Up octaver, the very synth-friendly Yamaha SDS CH-10MII chorus pedal, and the Vestax DDX vintage digital delay). Parts were recorded to a DAW, where compression, EQ, and reverb were added as required. Individual drum hits were sampled from slowed-down rhythms and processed to allow fresh beats to be built, rather than using the rhythms found on the PS-1 itself.
