Noise Engineering Blog: Supersync patch with LIP
Noise Engineering
"From the blog: https://www.noiseengineering.us/blog/...
Even with alllll the different types of synthesis and sound generation techniques there are today, I always fall back on dual-saw sync basses as a bit of a staple. And wouldn’t you know it, LIP can make a pretty solid emulation of one! This one’s easy to patch up; we don’t even have to tune it too carefully. Just follow the patch shown in the blog post linked above, and then adjust Oscillator B’s pitch to taste. A lot of the tone comes from the relationship between oscillator B’s pitch relative to oscillator A, so it’s also a great modulation destination in your patches, too.

Noise Engineering Blog: FM bell patch with LIP

Did you know that your LIP can do a pretty convincing emulation of FM? NO? Well, you do now. To make this work nicely, we need to tune our oscillators to a nice ratio that won’t be too inharmonic. For this example, oscillator B is tuned two octaves higher than oscillator A. How do we do this? Tuning LIP’s oscillators is easier than you might expect. First, switch Algo to the PM position, as that’s the algorithm we’ll be using for this sound. Set all the envelope sends to 12 o’clock so they’re not doing anything. Set the four tonal parameters fully counterclockwise, and switch the Mode to Free. You should just hear something close to a sine wave. Switch Master to A, then use the A pitch encoder to find a base frequency that you like. Then, switch Master to B, and use the B pitch encoder to tune oscillator B to a frequency two octaves above A (you can use a tuner like Soleo Vero for this, or switch Master back and forth to do it by ear).

Noise Engineering Blog: Subtractive patch with LIP
Noise Engineering
"From the blog: https://www.noiseengineering.us/blog/...
LIP tends to get noisy when you introduce inharmonic (read: out-of-tune) modulation from the second oscillator, which LIP makes easy to do. There are ways to get around that, but there are a lot of sounds we can make with just a single oscillator, too. This one is a personal favorite: by using the internal envelope to modulate the Morph parameter, we can emulate a traditional subtractive pluck.

We've been told only two of these are around. One for the band Kaiser Chiefs, and this one."
Dave of The Packrat had one. You can find pics and demos in the archives here.

Sky Soundlab Voice Spectra Vocoder SN BE14016598

You can find a demo of one here.
"Up for sale is the rare Voice Spectra Vocoder produced by Sky Soundlab (the same unit alternatively produced by Seekers).
It is in very good used condition with minor rack rash and some cosmetic wear.
It is in fully working functional condition.
Excellent youtube demo linked, it is not of this actual unit!
Comes with power cable. Some more info below:
This has a very clear sound for an analogue vocoder, a big part of why it makes voices so intelligible is the syllable function which inserts noise bursts into the signal for “s” and “sh” syllables. This is a pretty rare feature on an analogue vocoder, and it really helps with intelligiblity. The syllable function is also really cool for creating rhythms.
The Voice Spectra has good reputations in Japan for clear extent, high timbre, and for Speech Tracking Function (STF). STF is basically a pitch- to-voltage converter which functions by reading the glottal pulses of the speech signal. The control voltages from the output of the pitch extractor are fed to the VCO, so that this follow the cadences of the speech signaI. STF is an interesting additional facilities only to be found on more expensive vocoders like EMS.
Everyone familiar with vocoding will appreciate the Voice spectras compressor and Voiced/Unvoiced detector*.
The Voice spectra is a high quality studio-vocoder, appreciated by the staff at music studios, professional musicians, etc. in Japan. The articulation of the output signal is extremely good, being distinguished by remarkable clarity and distinctiveness. This quality of articulation, among other things, is what distinguishes SKY soundlab from other less sophisticated vocoders like the MAM VF11.
