Small Eurorack System - From Nothing to Crazy

video by Randy Piscione

For modules and patch details - hit Show More. Figured I’d do a video to show what can be done with even a small bunch of this stuff. Video is live patching. It’s a bit long, 15 minutes, but I hope you’ll consider watching the entire video, and follow along with the notes below. Drums are not coming from the small rack. Although I didn’t demo it fully here, the RingFolder is one of the best modules for getting variety out of a small system. Starts with the sequence running – and triggering the drums Sequencer CV to the VCOs (from the first mult) VCOs to the submixer Submixer to the VCF VCF to the VCA VCA to the final mixer Sequencer gate to both EGs (from the first mult)

DAFM DIY "SEGA Genesis" YM3438 Synth + Nemesis Delay Pedal improvisation

video by Floyd Steinberg

"The DAFM synth is a DIY project by KASSER SYNTHS based on the YM2612 or YM3438 FM soundchip which was also built into the SEGA Genesis game consoles (that was in the early 90s). It has 6 four-operator FM voices that can be used polyphonic and multitimbral.
The NEMESIS delay is a guitar pedal featuring a wide range of delay effects (tape, analog, digital, pitch-shifting, reverse, you name it). It has even more effects on offer when used with Source Audios "Neuro Desktop" app on Windows, Mac or Android.

More info on the DAFM synth:" [posted here]

"Towards the end of the 1980's, PPG's technology and several of their employees joined Waldorf, another German manufacturer, and the first product to come out of this collaboration was the Microwave, released in 1989. The Microwave was built upon what was the PPG Wave. A digital/analog hybrid in which digitally sampled wavetables are processed through analog VCA envelope and VCF (filter) sections producing a classic and warm yet highly complex sound. In fact, the Microwave uses the same wavetables from the PPG Wave 2.3! In effect, the Microwave sounds like the PPG, which in turn, sounds like synth-pioneers Tangerine Dream.

Over the years, the operating system (OS) could be upgraded via EPROM chips from Waldorf. These added additional wavetables, the options to create custom wavetables, a speech synthesizer, and numerous other improvements. The final OS was version 2.0, released in 1994."

You can find info on the different revisions of the original Waldorf Microwave here and some pics here.
