Prophet X Showcase with Nicholas Semrad: Double X

"Our friend Nicholas Semrad composed a few short pieces using only the Prophet X:

'Double X' uses both the 1985 Passionate ‘Muted’ and ‘Main’ Pianos mixed together, along with the ‘Acoustic Long’ guitar sample - creating a patch that could loop in a beautiful way, but also be "playable" via the sliders, wheels, and aftertouch. Using aftertouch to decimate it, and the mod wheel to fully-wet the mix of the reverb effect, slider one changes the size of the loop for a longer, more drawn out loop, and slider two raises the gain of the distortion effect.

'The guitar sound aims for the Bibio-esque rootsy lo-fi guitar sound. I stacked two of the exact same ‘Acoustic Long’ guitar sounds together (with a high pass filter effect on both) so that I could get extra effects. One stack has a distortion to warm up the sound a bit, and the other has a little bit of reverb.'

"I've been watching videos on this beauty of a synthesizer for some months and finally decided to pull the trigger on buying it.

The clip is the result of the first night of fiddling with a simple arpeggio. Barely scratched the surface of it's capabilities, but I can say I'm already in love with the mod matrix and LFO capabilities. The interface to me feels very natural. Didn't even look at the manual yet (but I should!). Looking forward to exploring this beast further!

Recorded in Ableton Live 10. Besides some compression and limiting, no effects were added in Ableton. Drums come from the Moog DFAM."

As some of you know, i was the designer of and now the lion tamer for the Euro system used by Tool live (Chocolate Chip Drip). I had to make them a single channel attenuator with very little time left b4 they leave on their new tour and didn't have a lot of free HP in which to do it.

This video goes through the process to make sure things align perfectly when there is no time for rev. 2
