Seven Famous Roland Synth Sounds - Tutorial
video upload by Alex Ball
"Roland recently bundled together five of their plug-in / plug-out synthesizers into a package called the 'Analogue Polysynth Collection'.
I thought it would be fun to take seven famous songs that used the original hardware and recreate the sounds using the equivalent software and explain how they were made.
0:00 Intro
1:36 The Human League - Dreams of Leaving
3:04 Depeche Mode - Tora Tora
4:34 Gary Numan - I Dream of Wires
7:03 Michael Jackson - Thriller
8:29 Mr Fingers - Can You Feel It
9:15 Harold Faltermeyer - Axel F
10:04 Tame Impala - Eventually"

Nice black & white shots.
"This classic polysynth is in as near-mint condition as you’re likely to ever find. Basically unused. That classic John Carpenter soundtrack sound, with crazy deep mod matrix and bitimbrality. These days editors in VST and iOS make it easy to edit its depths. Comes with original power cable, printed manual, extra patches on CD-ROM."

"The expander also has edit modes for its own built in arpeggio/sequencer.
The editor workflow is pretty great. You can really open this at synth up and make new presets quickly. Edit attack, decay, LFO, waveforms, and other perimeters all with a touch of a dial, instead of menu diving.
Everything works 100% as it should.
Some scuffs here and there, one key was repaired and a few slightly misaligned, but this synth still plays great. See photos for more details."
See 3rd to last key.

"Fender Chroma Polaris in excellent working condition. Membrane has been replaced and the unit has been serviced by a reputable local synth technician. There are some minor marks on it, normal wear and tear with a unit this old. Includes power cable.
This synth is *very* heavy for it's size (42 lbs!) - a lot of metal, but extremely well-built. Such a cool sound, only selling because I have 2 of them. :)"

"Its basically a computer and has tons of vst's installed. The touch screen and all knobs work. The software appears to be stock."
Check out a video from 2009 here, and a handful of posts here. The DBeat was introduced in 2009 and Open Labs went under in 2010, with new owners shortly after. Open Labs was first featured on the site back in 2007, "brigging sexy back" with the Timbaland Special Edition MiKo LX. See the Open Labs site label for everything that has gone up over the years. Note a ton of videos are gone as that is the unfortunate nature of people and the internet. History lost into the ether... The posts remain as a record of that history.
