DIY Drone Synthesizer : Vaemi

"It is a drone synthesizer that can be played with 4 analog channels or 4 voices. You can play it with the touchpads or the buttons. The main difference between the touchpads and the buttons is that the former reacts accordingly to the level of pressure you force upon them with your finger. In fact, each channel is designed as a monophonic synth voice, and each has a sustain-release 2-stage envelope and a basic vca. In total, it has 4 envelopes and 4 vcas. Behind the VCA, there is a 4- channeled mixer. This mixer is used for the summing of these 4 voice channels. A modulation of frequency between the Oscillators 1-2 and the Oscillators 3-4 is possible. At the very end of this diagram, there is an RC filter that can adjust the frequency rate and tune of the synthesizer. It can run with a 9v DC adaptor or with batteries. The audio output is designed as a 1/8mm TS jack.

MOOG MEMORYMOOG SYNTHESIZER Original 1982 Owners and Service Manual in vinyl binder in addition to an envelope containing an authorized factory service center guide and seven large folded full scale circuit diagrams and an additional "New from the MOOG Company" envelope containing a sequencer/MIDI retrofit update bulletins 833A & 841B, a software and accessories catalog and an eleven page brochure introducing the Moog Song Producer "a hardware/software system that magnifies the usefulness of MIDI and non-MIDI devices." (Copyright 1985, take that, Pro Tools!)

All pages of the owners and service manual and the separate service schematics envelope are accounted for.

The pages of the Owners and Service manual are in Very Good (VG) to Excellent (EX) condition. The seven large schematics are in New Old Stock condition and appear never to have been fully opened. The vinyl binder, service bulletin and marketing materials are Very Good (VG)."

Meng Qi Wingie 2, Norns (Awake), Digitakt | run

"@Meng Qi 's #Wingie 2 is one of the most deeply gratifying instruments i've interacted with in the last few years; it feels personal, intimate and experimental all at the same time. when i began sketching, i missed being able to add notes from a lower octave, while keeping most of the melodic content in the upper registers. so - i went out and got another Wingie 2. they make a beautiful pair together

for this piece, i tried to push the Wingie out side its usual familiar territory, and it responded very well. both Wingie's are receiving input from the monome norns awake synth; the black Wingie resonating an octave below the silver one, subtly, with a shorter decay time. i also added some color to the original sound from the wingie; the silver wingie is going through an electro-harmonix big muff guitar pedal (just off camera on the top). there's also an mxr dyna comp pedal (also slightly off camera) that is boosting the right-channel of the silver wingie.

there's also a norns shield (next to the silver Wingie), running an arp from Awake, tempo-linked to the standard black norns. ironically, the norns shield display went to sleep sometime before i started recording.

the expressive e touché is controlling the filter cut off of the norns awake synth. as the cut off changes, the wingie resonates accordingly.

lastly, there's digitakt for rhythm. yet another wonderful instrument that never fails to deliver.

this piece was a bit outside the usual for me, but so are the times we live in and everything i'm experiencing. i hope you enjoy listening."
