Cadence-Prototype1

video upload by DecadeBridge

"This is a collection of tests done with the first revision of Cadence.
Cadence is a square wave generator that can be used in several different ways.

00:00 - Standalone - drone synth-CV input to filter cutoff.
00:30 - External Input - Using and dividing an external oscillator.
03:40 - Gate generator - Using Cadence's oscillators to trigger drum hits, gate an envelope and clock the Turing machine.
05:08 - Standalone - Syncing the SQ1 to oscillator B and modulating the filter with the SQ1.
06:09 - External input sync - Using an external gate to cascade sync oscillators.
08:19 - External gate driving Cadence's rhythm."

Free the Tone Future Factory sweetens the Cat

video upload by Richard DeHove

"Four short noodles with the Behringer Cat and a Free the Tone Future Factory FF-1Y stereo delay. The delay cost almost exactly twice as much as the (recently discounted) Cat but it certainly makes the Cat twice as sweet. In fact I couldn't play anything mean and dirty through the FF-1Y, it just coats everything in beauty.

Two things really struck me with the FF, first its seemingly effortless deep stereo field, and second, the rich reverb-like atmosphere. It makes the raw little 2-note CAT sound like a far more complex poly. The sounds here from the FF are modified presets. There's absolutely no other effects or processing applied. If anyone wants to hear more I'll do a deep dive into the FF. For now it's my favorite delay.

0:00 Ominous strum-drone
1:13 Sweet resonant keys
2:51 Cheesy square riff
4:15 Thick arp

"Digital synthesizer based on Phase Distortion Synthesis, kind of similar the DX-7 FM Synthesis in terms of sound. Its a 16 voice synth that can be split into 2 parts, plus an 8 track sequencer. The voice structure is 2 oscillators, with a variety of standard and unusual waveforms including resonant waves that make up for the lack of filter. The waveforms get modulated by the 8 stage envelope generator (of which there are 3 for the pitch, waveform, and VCA) to create timbral changes. In addition to that there is a ring modulator, noise source, and chorus."

"SVC-350 Vocoder Plus Rackmount Analog Vocoder, SDD-320 Dimension D SPV-355 P/V Synth SPH-323 Phase Shifter SBF-325 Stereo Flanger

5 of the most sought after pieces of Roland rack gear. The famous Dimension D, the Vocoder, the monophonic P/V Synth, plus the rarely seen Phase Shifter and Stereo Flanger(with Chorus). I used the Dimension D, the Synth, and the Vocoder on several recordings, but I don't use them much anymore. They all need a good home where they will be used regularly."

"This synth is fully calibrated, completely working and has the following upgrades:

- recapped PSU

- multi-turn trimpots on voice cards for stability

- Pratt-Read keybed straightened, re-bushed and cleaned

At this point, there are no scratchy pots or dirty contacts, but as it is 40+ years old, there are no guarantees in that department."

"This is an Oberheim Xpander XP-1 in excellent condition. I purchased this Xpander in 1996 from the website of a used gear dealer in Connecticut; their listing stated that the unit had previously belonged to David Bowie's keyboard player, which I assumed meant Mike Garson (but I've never been able to substantiate this). The unit was in remarkably great condition upon receipt and it has remained that way since. I have never gigged with it; rather it has stayed in my non-smoking, temperature-controlled office/studio the entire time, mostly under a custom-fitted cover as I just haven't had the use for its extensive capabilities that I'd thought I would. So I've decided it's time to put it into someone else's hands who I hope will harness its potential and make some killer music.
