Bad Gear - It's really Bad?

"Welcome to Bad Gear, the show about the world's most hated audio tools. Today we are going to talk about the Roland SH-4d. Is this groovebox and multitimbral synthesizer based on subtractive synthesis, wavetable, FM synthesis, ring modulation and vintage synths like the Roland SH-101 or Roland Juno-106 the missing link between synth and drum machine. Can it keep up with competitors like the Elektron Syntakt or Teenage Engineering OP-1? Does it play in the same league like the new Roland Jupiter-X or even its conceptual predecessor, the Roland SH-32? It's really Bad?

"Super clean ARP Odyssey MKII 2813 w/ the 4075 filter. One of the nicest examples we've seen come through our doors. This particular unit has the pressure sensitive pitch pad (opposed to the pitch wheel).
Serial number: 2068
Service notes:
-Replaced filter caps and refurbished power supply.
-Replaced all tantalum caps with modern electrolytic type.
-Removed, disassembled and cleaned/lubricated all faders
-Cleaned all switches
-Cleaned all pin headers, molex connectors
-Cleaned and resoldered connectors on buss PCB
-Removed key bed buss bar and cleaned bar and all key contacts (j-wires)
-Cleaned all calibration trim pots
-Calibrated entire synthesizer.
-Burned in and then check/recalibrated as necessary"

"This exceptionally rare analogue percussion synthesizer was made in Japan in the very early 1970's. It has been most notably used by Anne Peebles in the rare groove song 'I Can't Stand The Rain' which was sampled and used in the 1997 Hiphop track 'The Rain' by Missy Elliot. I have replaced the disintegrated foam which sits under the pads with brand new longer lasting foam. The pads are "velocity sensitive," using a magnetic pickup inside each pad that runs on a 9V battery which powers all voices. The mute switches all work, which essentially control the decay for each instrument by varying degrees based on the circuit design. There's a circuit diagram pasted to the base of the case beneath the top of the synth.
There are trimmers on the circuit board of the synth which I'm assuming control either overall tuning or deacy. I haven't touched these in order to maintain the originality of this instrument. The synth is in amazing original condition despite its age and the fact that it needs to be hit in order to work. :)"

This one was relabelled as one of the last hurrahs for Webcor of 1950s and 60s tape recorder fame, and named The Music Machine.
Electronic organ and sound system made by Sankei Manufacturing Co Ltd, Japan, 1978.
A four-in-one electronic organ combination sound system consisting of electronic organ, automatic rhythm unit, cassette player, mixer, amp, and radio.
