"Has not been used in years. Was owned by the band Deep Purple. Turns on but assuming its going to need some service to get it perfect again."

"Studio Electronics MidiMoog - rack mounted version of the Minimoog Model D. This unit has the original vintage Minimoog boards in it. It was just fully serviced(tuned and calibrated) by the fine gentleman at Studio Electronics and sounds amazing. This unit will only work on midi channel 1. Other than that, works perfectly. Since it has the original vintage VCO, VCF and VCA boards, it needs about 15 minutes to warm up, after that it stays in tune and tracks great!"

DPO vs Spectraphon

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"So how do these two compare? Let's have a friendly 'competition' where both win, a bit of drama and some cool patch examples that show the major differences.

A short observation reveals a similar layout of two VCO's and an FM-bus in the center. But Spectraphon's deck-knobs are used for adjusting the bands in a parametric EQ, while DPO's knobs are used to design and sculpt waveforms. Spectraphon uses statistic models of captured sounds, DPO makes original complex sounds that just can't be captured in a spectrum array - and it offers a mighty wavefolder. So DPO is a fruit, and Spectraphon is a fruit processor that makes/blends juice.

It takes a lot of space to use both in a single case so you may need to make a choice. Using an XPO next to the SP brings you closer to the DPO and you can make a lot of new sounds, but again, the DPO's internal routings make all the difference.

There are four challenges in this video: the 'drone', 'sweet dreams', 'processing audio' and 'bad dreams'. Both modules meet at neutral ground, and can use the same configuration of Marbles, Ripples, Stages, Veils and Clouds. It's been a bit like playing chess against myself so there's no winner. In the 'drone' challenge they were limited to their own rows, the other challenges allowed using everything, including each other. These two rows make up really cool starterkits too.

00:00 Introduction
02:04 Challenge 1: The Drone
06:06 Challenge 2: Sweet Dreams
09:49 Challenge 3: Processing Audio
12:01 Challenge 4: Bad Dreams"

Neuzeit Instrument WARP - Additive synthesis

video upload by ALEQ Modular

"I'm just receiving the new Neuzeit Instrument WARP.
Because I'm a bit obsessed by additive synthesis, I wanted to try it quickly...

So here a test of the additive synthesis part of this module.
Yes: I'm not doing a full review of it: only the spectrum edition (and a bit of the SPEC menu too)

To resum, I must admit that contrary to what we may think, the edition is pretty easy and fast. It just need to spend few minutes to read the quick start guide. So it's quite easy to build evoltive and complex sound.
(Ok...it takes time, but it's because there a lot on it, not because of ergonomic issues)

In addition to the WARP, I'm checking the VECTOR WAVE from RYK, which seems similar in some ways. Also easy to use. And finally, a small reminder of the Kawai K5000R, beast of additive synthesis but too hard to program."

Tech Thursday | Step 8 as a Variable Length Sequencer

video upload by Joranalogue Audio Design

"Besides bringing back Patch Tuesday, we're also giving you Tech Thursdays! In these concise videos, we bring up some overlooked and advanced features of our modules.

This week: Step 8 as a variable length sequencer, powered by the stage CV input. Did you know that in addition to directly addressing the register by CV, this input also allows you to change the reset point? By patching Step 8 to reset itself, we can thus dynamically vary the length of the sequence under voltage control.

Thanks for watching!"
