Tal-Pha ... What's so special about the Alpha Junos? & how to make THE Hoover!

video upload by Starsky Carr

"The Alpha Juno has been given a new lease of life by TAL. Finally we now have an amazingly accurate recreation of the 80's classic synth. Here I put it up against my original (my first synth) which I bought back in school ... THATs a long time ago! It was used then and its even more used now :)"

Bad Gear - Kindergarten Engineering

video upload by AudioPilz

"Welcome to Bad Gear, the show about the world's most-hated audio tools. It's Kindergarten Engineering !!! I’m still coping with NAMM 2024 PTSD and I wasn’t even there. Korg released the successor to a synth the world forgot, Uli is getting really good at selling faster horses and Moog decided to save the important announcements for a much bigger show.

Yamaha - on the other hand - returned from a groovebox hiatus of over two decades only to release a display-less Lego cigarette trying hard to catch up on a trend based on a device that was announced at Messe 2009. Yamaha - It’s good to have you back.

Norwich EMOM performance 7th March 2024

video upload by Molten Music Technology

"My improvised performance from last night's EMOM at The Rumsey Wells. Took me a while to find my way into this one, which is why it's a bit shorter, as I've spared you the first five minutes of cringe-modular where it's all a bit out of tune and not landing right. Something in there worked out eventually but it's not my finest work. You're not going to get it right every time."

Minimalist Four to the Floor with Midicake ARP

video upload by midicake

"Sometimes you just need a bit of minimal four to the floor to gets you moving. 🎧

With Midicake ARP, the bassline rhythms, drums and melodies for this track came together in a matter of minutes. It's so quick to generate new ideas. Configuration in Ableton is super simple, too. Then just explore chords/scales to find the movement and emotion that matches your mood. It's awesome and nothing else does it this way.

"Time Intertwines" Arturia Microfreak, Minifreak, Moog Matriarch, AudioThing Noises

video upload by Vöstok-one

"Time Intertwines,

In the morning’s chill, in the evening’s light,
Each step a stride towards hope’s height,
On the shores of the lake, where time intertwines,
Where the world’s beauty ever shines.

May the wind carry our fleeting fears away,
And may the lake whisper in our ears,
The secrets of dreams yet to be found,
On the path to tomorrow’s hallowed ground.

I hope you will enjoy this song as much as I had fun playing it."

The Amazing NINA synth - Must be heard to be believed!

video upload by School of Synthesis

"Watch Tristan from School of Synthesis make a track using only the incredible Nina Synth in morph mode! It’s exciting to see some truly compelling synthesis innovation coming out of School of Synthesis' home town Melbourne Australia. In this video, Tristan explores the expressive sounds of the Melbourne Instruments NINA synth with its morphing functionality and hybrid analog/digital oscillator section. It’s also extremely helpful from an educational / sound design perspective to see exactly how each parameter is changing as a sound morphs from one layer to another thanks to NINA’s trademark motorised knobs.
