"Roland Jupiter 8 in good condition. The face of the unit has a few marks as well as 1 hole plug and another hole plug on the right end cheek. The unit otherwise is in pretty great shape and his been restored comprehensively inside. It features Encore midi, the best midi available for the Jupiter 8 in our opinion."

This SN was previously posted here with custom knobs back in 2019.

"OBERHEIM OBX 8 VOICE s/n 802701 , Encore MIDI 120 programs, custom cherry wood cheeks, flight case. Production 1979/1980. The first and the best Oberheim polysynth.
FUNCTIONALITY
This synth has been fully restored by Rosensound, one of the best in the business.Vintage Oberheim synths have a reputation for being inherently unreliable, which is not really accurate. The electrical design flaws and common stress/failure points on these synths are well known. Provided they are properly restored and upgraded by a competent technician they are quite reliable. I've had this one since 2021. It's given me no trouble. It tunes and scales so accurately that sometimes it's quite nice to play before hitting autotune. All key bushings are new of course, so it's nice to play.
All functions working as normal. If you own one of these, expect to periodically open it up to clean J-wires on the old pratt-read keyboard. This is not technically difficult and there are resources available on the internet. Nothing this old will run without periodic maintenance.
COSMETICSSee photos. I have tried to show every unflattering mark on the front panel, there aren't many but the buyer should be able to see what they're getting. Bottom panel has light paint scratches consistent with a 1979 synth, but no metal gouges or whacks.Overall I think the front panel is clean, very nice IMO.

By the way, I have the original cheeks which burst at the side (a common issue as they used cheap plywood with a solid wood veneer) - they're not hideous by any means, I just prefer the cherry ones. If the buyer wants the original cheeks I can include them too, but be aware they'll not fit in the case, so separate shipping costs will be incurre"

"Relatively uncommon but a fantastic sounding analogue synth capable of some extremely rich sounds when compared to modern digital offerings.

This unit is completely restored and fully operational.

This unit has seen the following service:

Completely refurbished keybed
All button contacts (Keybed and front panel buttons) have been refurbished
ALL electrolytic caps replaced including those on the audio board.
New memory battery installed
New voltage regulators installed
New led matrix chips installed
Full factory sysex installation with original factory sounds restored.
Fully tested and working great!
The Split-8 makes for a very nice programmable polyphonic analog synthesizer with complete MIDI implementation. With 8 voices and 8 oscillators (Curtis 3394 SENTE chips) the Split-8 is a heavy contender against the Roland Juno-106.

The keyboard features splits and layers, all of which can be saved with patch data. Choose between 8 voice polyphony with 1 oscillator per voice, 4 voice polyphony with dual oscillators per voice, 2 voice polyphony with a mega 4 oscillators per voice, or the unison mode which is just a fat 8-voice solo mode for trance bass and lead heaven! Similar to the Juno-106, the Split-8 uses a Chorus effect to liven up the sounds.

Split-8 features:

One voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) for each of the eight voices. Switches are used to set any combination of triangular, sawtooth and square wave. Pulse width modulation (PWM) is available.
For each voice, the coarse tuning is available within four octaves as well as the fine tuning.
Programmable "poly mod" allows the audio output of one voice to feed another's VCF. In this case, the polyphony is reduced to four voices.
The voltage-controlled low-pass filter (LP VCF) has a four-stage structure with a slope of 24 dB per octave. Cutoff, resonance and modulation depth adjustments are available. A keyboard tracking mode is also provided (higher notes have a higher cutoff frequency).
The low-frequency oscillator (LFO) produces a triangular or rectangular waveform in the range from 0.25 to 20 Hz. It can be used to modulate the cutoff frequency of VCF, the pitch of the VCO and the pulse-width modulation.
ADSR envelope generators for VCF and VCA.
Keyboard "split" and "layer" functions are available.
Programmable chorus effect.
Full MIDI support, including downloading presets via the sysex protocol."

Taiga Keyz from Pittsburgh Modular // It Makes Some Rather Nice Sounds

video upload by Starsky Carr

"Sounds ONLY demo here of the Pittsburgh Modular Taiga Keyz. These patches were too nice to hide in a talky review/demo so i thought i'd put the sounds up front and centre in the heart of the action.. it's what its all about after all.

There are 4 tracks in total.. trying out different patching ideas from simple non-patched using the internal semi-modular internal patching to duophonic mode using an additional VCA to split the oscillators into 2 groups - 2 osc going through the filter and 1 osc going through the Low Pass Gate.

I've used the arp, the sync'd LFO to modulate the waveshapes for a pseudo filtering effect, the mod tool to control the filter cuttoff and I think on one of these I might have been using the random mod tool to add some randomness to the BBD for a lofi chorus effect - if not try it anyway! Once you start you cant help exploring :)"
