SILHOUETTE eins : sound of the day: Monday, 6th May, 2024.

"The optical sound synthesizer SILHOUETTE Eins uses greyscale values for sound synthesis. In this video a "Vimple" (visual sample of an analog synthesisizer (Korg MS20) is crossfaded with a template on the lighttable, captured by the camera. The notes ate played by sequencer remote (plus some bassdrum notes).

Roland SH01A for the bass, Korg Volca FM for a lead, Meeblip Geode for another lead, Elektron Model Cycles for the drums and percussion. @1010music Blackbox is the brains of the operation, recording and playing sequences and distributing MIDI. Random crummy delay pedal on the volca FM is chosen more for its size than its sound!"

"German HiFi Manufacturer Teufel was getting rid of the analog system they used to design crossovers for their loudspeakers. I could not pass up the opportunity to get this piano-sized analog filterbank in my studio. Together with @LOOKMUMNOCOMPUTER I explored the musical use of this gigantic piece of obsolete technology.
