"The romantic notion that there is someone out there for everyone sent hundreds of millions of people to online dating apps last year, including Jay Wires. Trapped in a world with seemingly infinite options where temporary relationships are the norm, he decided to set himself apart by putting his profile to music with a brief jingle expressing his intentions, thus giving birth to 'Illusion,' a foray into a desolate, chimerical territory, as he succinctly expresses the loneliness and hopelessness that one feels when searching for their soulmate in a landscape that feels more like a carnival’s House of Mirrors than its Tunnel of Love.

A plaintive query prefaces a punchy electronic beat, and synth layers build as Wires’ cri de coeur - raw and emotional, gives way to a chorus driven by a galloping bassline with the intensity of a racing heartbeat, and distant bells like a death knell stab you to your core, evoking that hollow feeling of loss and want.
