ARP QUADRA w/Synthchaser MIDI + LED upgrade + more

"This synth has been fully serviced and upgraded, making it IMO the best and most musically usable Quadra you'll likely ever come across. Modifications installed are the Synthchaser Quadra MIDI kit (very few of these kits in existence, I believe there were only around 20 of them made/sold, and it is no longer available), the Synthchaser Quadra LED slider upgrade kit, as well as a custom modification which routes the external audio input through the Quadra's glorious stereo phase-shifter effect (normally the external input is simply there to mix in an external audio source, and isn't routed through any of the Quadra's processing signal path). For info on the Synthchaser kits, you can read up on them and watch video demos via their website: synthchaser [dot] com.

Additional notes:
(1) the Midi Out can alternately be switched to Midi Thru, via a switch on the board.
(2) I also had my tech install an on/off switch for the LED lights on the sliders, as seen in photo#9, under the "la tosca INC" sticker.

This thing sounds absolutely glorious, and everything, including keyboard aftertouch, is working perfectly. It was fully serviced at the same time as the Synthchaser kits were installed."

Waldorf 2-Pole Analog Filter

"From Waldorf:

'For some decades now, analog filters have had a deep impact on contemporary music. Since its very beginnings, Waldorf has been renowned for the quality of their excellent sounding analog filters.

Whether these were integrated in stand alone units, such as the 4-Pole, X-Pole or the AFB16, which enabled the world’s first analog plug-Ins, or were found inside our synthesizers such as the Wave, the Q+ or the Pulse – Waldorf filters have influenced the world’s sound for over two decades.

As a logical consequence, our exclusive analog filter technology is now available in this novel square box (unexpectedly matching the Rocket synthesizer). 2-Pole is giving the guitar player, the DJ, or the keyboard player access to the heart of the Waldorf sound – with an inspiring user interface with a one knob/one function philosophy. Spice up your live performances with dramatic filter sweeps that really cut through. Funk up your guitar licks by hooking a pedal controller to 2-Poles’ cutoff CV In or using the integrated envelope follower. Animate your pad sounds using 2-Pole’s LFO. But beware – no matter what you do with this tiny black box, make sure you set the levels to your amplifiers and speakers correctly, as 2-Pole is yet another beast from Waldorf – with love!'"

Eko Rhythmaker (Italy, 1970) vintage analog drum machine

"The drum machine is fully working and in excellent cosmetical condition for its age.

It has 16 types of rhythms that can be combined (maximum of 2 together at a time):

• March • Fox Trot • Shuffle • Jazz • Swing • Tango • Waltz • Western • Slow Rock • Rock'n Roll • Bossa Nova • Samba • Mambo • Cha-Cha • Beguine • Rumba

The front panel includes 3 controls: Volume, Sustain and Tempo Speed.

The “Sustain” knob is one of the 'mysteries' of all Eko Rhythmakers as it almost never makes any changes. We have sold several Rhythmakers over the years and the “Sustain” has never worked or made any changes to the various sounds.

In fact, if we check the Rhythmaker diagrams and calculate the sustain time, in the best scenario, the result could be a maximum of 0.8 sec, therefore completely imperceptible to human ears. If we then consider the components of the epoch, perhaps it is even less than 0.8 sec. So in none of the Eko Rhythmakers does the “Sustain” knob work because is practically imperceptible.

The 'Selector' section is practically an integrated mixer that allows you to adjust the volume of the individual parts/sounds of the rhythm. Very cool!

On the back there are:

• FOOT SWITCH: Works perfectly with any switch pedal (not included in the sale)

• HIGH IMP OUTPUT

• LOW IMP OUTPUT

Inside the drum machine there are some trimmers: they can modify the sound of the individual instruments (intonation, etc.) to your own taste and liking.

True collector's item: it’s a simple and great drum machine with a very rich sound, especially with a nice tape delay and reverb added.

Eko was the Italian brand that produced many legendary instruments. The Company was based in Recanati (Marche, Italy), in the same area where Elka, Elgam, Farfisa, Crumar, Jen, Siel, Solton, CRB, etc. were born."

sighting rock 1 - ambient jam with the sonicware liven series texture lab and ambient zero

video upload by Matt Webb

"I used the Sonicware Liven Ambient Zero to develop an ambient sequence, which I then ran through the Texture Lab's EFX mode to take advantage of the granular engine. I adjusted grain size and density as well as timing, and made use of the tape echo delay while the sequence was playing. I added some drone notes throughout as it felt necessary. As you can tell from the clipping at the beginning, I did not edit or add any new effects to the audio (which was recorded simultaneously using Audacity)."
