Intellijel MultiGrain |The Grainmakers Playlist | Episode 14

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"I did not expect this playlist to grow with yet another grainmaker. I am quite happy with the ones I already have and my Intellijel stealth case is already completely full. So when you already have plenty of options and no room, what better excuse is there to just get it? So here we are.

I can't just objectively use MultiGrain on its own, without considering the alternatives and Arbhar as a reference module. Is it even fair to compare it with what's already around? I think so. Objectively, MultiGrain covers a lot of ground. It's versatile and musical, but it can also do microsound adventures. However, I had to go back and forth between manual and module to find out how typical granular techniques are implemented. For instance, there's no spray, no panning, no dubbing, etc, etc. Well, it's there, but it's implemented in a completely different way. If you're familiar with granular synthesis, MultiGrain is simply not intuitive to use, even though the user interface is amazing. If you want a spray, you'll need to randomize start and length. If you want panning, you'll need to randomize level and tone. Need a threshold to start your recording? You'll need to go to the advanced sampling page which complements the main and ALT pages.

Still, MultiGrain is in my favorite top 3, but Arbhar and Morphagene are 1 and 2 respectively. I think Arbhar is more suited for musical adventures, and the Morph still wins when it comes down to splicing virtual tape and making weird sounds. MultiGrain provides a lot of both, but it will take time and patience to find what you're looking for.

I hope Intellijel will listen to their end users and work on firmware updates to streamline the experience. It would be great to splice a drum loop over the eight sounds using transient detection. It would be great if two or more sounds could play together, and it should be able to dub over a sound to make layers. MultiGrain has the potential to become the best granular module in eurorack, but not today. Not yet."

Take 5 at the Beach - Jam 5/3/2025

video upload by I Love Cats and Synths

"I'm on vacation at the beach but I brought some things including the Take 5 with me. I recorded this in my hotel room and included some ambient sounds and video from the beach taken the morning of 5/3/2025.

I used one of my favorite Take 5 patches I made. Enjoy!"

A Roland Jupiter 6 soundscape with Fractal Audio FM3

video upload by MIDERA

"My daughter woke up every day this week with a fever. I knew something was wrong when, on Monday, she got up when I was standing in the hallway and she just looked off. Then she said "I'm dizzy." Every time she has a fever she wakes up dizzy. And so she has been sick. I wish I could have relaxed with her the whole time, but I was busy with work.

Hopefully she'll start feeling better soon.

The Tooth Fairy did leave her a note, wishing her well, letting her know that someone had told her my daughter was sick. My daughter was so excited to know that one of her stuffed animals had talked with the Tooth Fairy at night to explain the situation. That was, probably, the highlight of the week.

ALESIS MODFX PEDALS — LOT OF 5 - METAVOX - FAZE - AMPLITON - PHLNGR - PHILTRE

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this eBay listing

"Up for sale is one lot of five Alesis ModFX pedals from the early 2000s.

The sale includes Metavox, Faze, Ampliton, Phlngr and Philtre.

These pedals have sat unused since I acquired them new. All pedals are in excellent working and physical condition.

Every pedal includes its original Alesis power supply in its original cardboard box.

Every pedal has its original manual in cellophane except for Faze. (Once you understand one pedal, they're all easy to use)

Every pedal comes with its original packaging. The boxes show plenty of shelf wear and are in fair condition. Each still has its interior cardboard that holds the pedal and power supply in place, but these are usually broken in two or more places. Still, they do their job.

None of the pedals have Velcro on their underside. I would have included pictures but I've reached my photo limit for this auction."

Ricky Tinez on the Bastl Wave Bard & FX Wizard

video upload by Ricky Tinez

"I was pleasantly surprised by the Wave Bard, but more so from the FX Wizard! Using these two together, you can get some awesome sounds out of them. It's so weird not having a sequencer, but once I submitted and gave in I had a blast."

Check with dealers on the right for availability.

Polykit-16 with added performance modes

video upload by Craig Barnes

"When I first built this synth although it was bi-timbral I never really made the operation so you could easily use the bi-timbral modes, it had patch setups, but not performances to take advantage of the dual sounds, so this week I went out if my way to add the performance mode."

Jungle Influenced IDM w/ Digitakt 2, Octatrack, Digitone, & GS Music e7

video upload by goth jocks

"A jungle/drum and bass inflected IDM jam using the Elektron Digitakt 2, the Digitone (OG), and the GS Music e7 on the lead. All running into the Octatrack for performance FX

First attempt at using the Octatrack as a performance mixer (or anything at all really), so it’s a little choppy. I bought this Octatrack back in October and it’s mostly sat on the shelf since. Even though I’m pretty well versed in a variety of Elektron machines, the Octatrack remains inscrutable. I finally loaded some performance mixer templates by ‪@EZBOT_‬ into it and got cookin. Eventually I’ll explore them more in depth and make modifications, use the live looper, etc… Baby steps!

Also, this jam actually started from a different jam. This one! [below]

One of my fav things to do on the DT2 is copy/paste older projects and turn them into something new"

"Little tune with the Elektron Digitakt II

Not sure what happened at the end. Definitely didn’t mean to completely obliterate it like that"
