Octave CAT SRM Model 1853 SN B4046

via this eBay listing
"A bold, duophonic analog classic with a reputation for massive tone and underrated flexibility.
This is the Mk II version of the legendary Octave CAT — a U.S.-built synth from the mid-to-late 1970s that offers two VCOs with saw, square, and triangle waveforms (VCO 1 only), cross modulation, oscillator sync, and mixable waveforms. With duophonic capabilities and a famously powerful filter section, the CAT delivers deep bass, snarling leads, and complex drones with ease.
Key Features:
Two VCOs with independent modulation routing
Oscillator sync, cross-mod, and sub-octave options
VCF with audio-rate modulation and noise source
SRM (Series Revision Model) Mk II panel layout with white-only graphics
Bypass switch, modulation source selectors, and fine-tuning control
Serial number B4046
This unit is fully functional and sounds incredible. Cosmetically, it shows normal wear for its age, but everything works as intended.
An increasingly rare and highly regarded U.S.-made synth that stands tall next to the Minimoog, ARP Odyssey, and Pro-One — but with its own unique voice and vibe."

"Welcome to Bad Gear, the show about the world’s most-hated audio tools. In light of recent events we are going to talk about OP-1 Field.
While other manufacturers either “pass on savings from process optimization” or relentlessly jack up prices once people are actually buying their music making toys, our favorite interior design company/copyright agency/nepo baby cult just flexed their monstrous marketing muscle and - did both at the same time.

Oberheim TEO-5 Synth Jam | Percussive FM Arp & Ambient Textures
video upload by Sidetrack Walker
"A pure synth journey with the Oberheim TEO-5 – no talking, no overlays, just evolving textures and raw sonic movement.
This live synthesizer jam explores the rhythmic and textural possibilities of through-zero FM, snappy envelopes, and sample & hold (S&H) modulation. Starting with a tight percussive arpeggiator patch, the track moves into ambient territory midway, using the TEO-5’s built-in BBD delay with endless feedback and rich stereo reverb before returning to its rhythmic roots.
Whether you’re here for synth inspiration, immersive listening, or just want to experience the TEO-5 in action, this one’s for you.
🎧 Headphones recommended!
PS: Apologies for the less-than-ideal lighting — let’s call them lo-fi vibes by accident. The jam deserved to be shared regardless. 😉
🔍 Key patch features (for the synth community):
• Through-zero FM
• Per-step S&H mod oscillator tuning
• Percussive envelope settings
• Stereo voice spread
• BBD delay in feedback loop
• Internal reverb for lush ambience
Thanks for listening!"
Oberheim TEO-5 Bass Tip | Cancel Out Your Low End for Clean Pads!
video upload by Sidetrack Walker
"Unlock a simple phase cancellation trick on the Oberheim TEO-5 to control the low end (bass region) of your patches. In this quick, voice-over tutorial, I use a lush FM pad to demonstrate how combining triangle & square waveforms thins out the bass. Use this on pads to prevent mud, or avoid it when you want a solid low-end for bass lines.
🎧 Use headphones to hear the difference.
What you’ll see & hear:
• Phase cancellation demo on a TEO-5 FM pad
• Waveform switching to show low-end attenuation
• Why this trick helps pads sit cleanly in the mix
• Why you should avoid it for bass patches
• No external FX—just the TEO-5’s raw sound with mild limiting
Whether you’re into sound design, mixing tips, or simply love the TEO-5’s character, this quick tip will add a new tool to your synthesis workflow."
