Oscillography - Fibonacci Generator (2)

YouTube via EA78751
"Here is an excerpt from my unreleased videotape "Thirteen Meditations on the Meaning of the Tao".

The patterns are synthesized with a Lagged Fibonacci Generator (LFG) circuit built with discrete logic chips (CD4000 CMOS). The LFG is an algorithm sometimes used in cryptography to generate encryption keys. I'm exploring it as a pattern generator for algorithmic art and music. Although cryptographers like the LFG because its output is similar to white noise, I find that through creative electronic filtering, the intricate details of its cyclic patterns become visible, and we can appreciate the details."

Update via Eric in the comments: "here is a photo of the circuit in a partially complete state"

Vangelis concert in Rotterdam, Netherlands

YouTube via yearofox. via fischek. Note the Roland JD-800
"On June 18, 1991, Vangelis played to a crowd of 275,000 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. His performace was considered the climax of the "Eureka Project", an event organized by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs. Its purpose was to encourage international scientific cooperation among European nations."

Pressure Sensitive CV Ribbon Controller Demo

Sonicstate.TV via 12T0NE
"This video is a quick demo of a pressure-sensitivity option to my 20" Walking Stick ribbon controllers. There is no real "intelligence" in the controller - it simply offers a variable CV out for both the ribbon and the pressure - with attenuators for each. The pressure has a somewhat exponential response curve. It's nice on hardwired synths for enveloping notes using the filter, and would work great on a modular for a multitude of functions."

Synth DIY UK weekend - July 17/19

"Another year, another Synth DIY UK event. 2009 marks the 10th anniversary of the UK synthtastic gathering.

The location, as last year, is Robinson College -

http://www.robinson.cam.ac.uk/contact/directions.php

In an effort to streamline the process I've tweaked the online booking form, which you can find here:

http://www.njohnson.co.uk/SDIY/roombooking.html

Room rates are £32 for a single, £53 for a double, continental-style breakfast included. All rooms are en-suite. Prepayment is required, either Sterling cheque or via Paypal.

Info and photos from previous years can be found on Paul Maddox's site:

http://www.diy.synth.net/uk

I'll announce a closing date nearer the time. Suffice it to say there's some time to go before you need to make your mind up.

Further details will be announced in due course.

Cheers,
Neil

Wersi Galaxy Organ - Opened Up

via Kenneth Elhard:
"Since I took some photos of my Wersi Organ opened up, I figured I'd post
them for those interested in seeing how the organ opens up like a book,
where all sections are hinged and can be swung up for easy access to all of
the internals.
