Akai S900 and S950 with custom Operating Systems

video upload by Mike Feedback

"I developed a custom operating system for the Akai S900 and Akai S950 samplers which turns them into real-time signal processors. You can run audio through them and have them add that 12-bit grit without having to worry about sample time.

If you have an s900 or s950, download it for free:

S900FX and S950FX Anti-Alias mod

video upload by Mike Feedback

"I corrected a sample rate bug and added the ability to turn off the anti-alias filter in the latest version of S900FX and S950FX.

S900FX and S950FX are custom operating systems for the Akai S900 and Akai S950 that turn the hardware into signal processors that allow you to apply their 12-bit grit to the audio signal in real-time. Pass the audio through them and record into your modern sampler.

SISKworks cassette loop synth with effects & sequencer | Knobcon 2026

video upload by CatSynth TV

"Mike Sisk from Siskworks demonstrates the Capstan SM, a unique tape loop synthesizer prototype, at Knobcon 2026. One can think of it as a 'poor man's Mellotron'.

This instrument uses a physical tape loop to create sound. There are five note buttons, each with a trigger and independent speed knob for the motor. Additionally, there are several available effects via a built-in microprocessor. There is even a sequencer that can drive the cassette loop.

Plexiphon Is Now Shipping! | Make Noise

video upload by MAKEN0ISE

"On Saturday, October 3rd, at 3 pm, Tom Erbe will be at Perfect Circuit in Burbank, California, talking about all things Plexiphon and soundhack. The event is free!

The Make Noise Soundhack Plexiphon is a stereo, modeless spatial texturizer which allows for continuously morphing between reverberations and multi-tap echoes, the widest range of possible results being neither reverb nor echo, and all results highlighting and amplifying character previously hidden in the source material being processed.

The Plexus control simultaneously modulates the number of feedback paths in the algorithm, and their entanglement together. The Size of the paths determines the temporal relation between them, operating like a 'delay time,' or a 'room size,' at either extreme of Plexus.

Diffuse and Color offer softening/sharpening/darkening/brightening effects over time.

Couple and Skew are stereo operations: Couple determines to what degree the left and right sides are isolated or intermingled (from 'dual mono' to fully interlaced stereo), while Skew offers simultaneous inverse or tandem control of the left and right paths on the Plexus, Size, and Color parameters.

The Send gate input (normalled high, or patchable) determines whether and when the input signal will be fed into the Plexus.

An envelope follower is provided at the CV output for re-integration of the Plexus into its own controls or elsewhere in the voltage controlled system.

Plexiphon is built from entirely new code by Tom Erbe, specifically for Make Noise’s newest digital hardware.
