HarriL - Temporary Patten(Live)

video upload by HarriL

"This is most likely the fastest tracks I've made for a video. The time it took to make this was about an hour. Evolver sequenced from the EMX, Revolution through ESX's effects.

Nothing much to say, it's a chill track made just because I've had such a long pause in uploading anything new. I'm still making new stuff, but never really got around recording them into a full track.

I just might do a video of a selection of unfinished patterns that I have made during the years."

HarriL - Your Drummachine (Live)

video upload by HarriL

"MP3 Here: http://www.mikseri.net/music/play.php...

A new live electro-house'ish track featuring the Korg ESX on samples, drums and effects processing for guitar. EMX on synths and drums. Novation KS handling Vocoding and synth.

I have been wanting to test the vocoder in my K-Station for a while now, and now I got the chance. I'ts weird yes i know :)
And no, there's no great meaning behind the words "I want to be your drummachine" That's all i could think of while playing this.

I had to cut the video down a bit (about a minute), because of the youtube lenght limits. The you can hear the full higher quality version from the Mp3.

Comments are welcome :)

Enjoy!"

HarriL - Rodeo (Live)

video upload by HarriL

"MP3 Here: http://www.mikseri.net/music/play.php...

Hello! No electro this time, but a mix of (goa-ish?)trance, acid and house. Go figure.
I'm also testing the new pedal I got for the revolution - The Digitech Grunge. That's actually what this video was originally supposed to be, but everything just kind of got out of control (it was REVOs REMIX-buttons' fault).

Anyway, the gear used:
Electibe MX - Synths & drums
Revolution - ACID.
DSI Evolver - Blips and blops.
Quasimidi 309 - 909 kick.

Oh yeah, merry christmas and a GEARful new year!"

Something New from Dave Smith Instruments This Way Comes

Via David Bryce on this VSE thread. Sent my way via HarriL. And, no this is not the Boomchick developed with Roger Linn:

"This has been developed in almost complete secrecy. Only a few people know about it. This is the first time it's been mentioned publicly.

As I mentioned earlier- it ain't gonna be secret for much longer. The first run is being built right now, and will be ready for shipping next week.

The only hint as of this post is black with wood ends.

Updates in the thread (thx goes to ben of mus-ok for the tip):
"sizzlemeister wrote:
It's got to be a 5 or more voice simple Rev 4.0-like Prophet.

Basically correct.

Quote:
It'll be like a PEK using the CEMs DSI uses in the Evolver, but minus EVERYTHING digital excepting patch-storage and MIDI.

Again, basically correct.

Quote:
This to address the market demand for a modern, affordable analog polysynth from DSI that has 5 or more voices. So, keeping the voice architecture "simple" like a P5 with no bells and whistles allows to maintain a "lower" price-point.

Yes...but it does have some bells and whistles. We kept the sequencer, added the arpeggiator, and tacked on one or two more fun little functions.

Prophet '08. Eight voices, all analog. Shipping next week.

"It does use the same CEM chips as the Evo stuff, but they sound different because Dave tweaked them differently, and the system isn't the same without the digital stuff in the signal path.

I think you'll be surprised. I sure was...

regarding pics:
"
I don't have any good ones, and I believe we're waiting on the production models to take a formal one. We've all been working on hand built prototypes. I think I'm the only one who has one that has the knobs with the silver caps.... Very Happy

As far as the price point goes..$2199 MSRP, $1999 MAP.

Update (thx to Xavier for the tip in the comments):
And we have a teaser video from non other than Stefan Trippler.

And some samples:

Drums from Spectrasonics Stylus.

And one more old Style tune, all synth sounds:

Update via Mr. Array: More samples:
"Copy the following link and paste it into your address bar:

http://www.trippler.net/files/p8/p8a.mp3

Then change the p8a.mp3 to p8b.mp3, then p8c.mp3 and so on.

Thanks to Mr. Array for the tip."

NÄPPY KONTROL 0.4 - New Hardware Controller in the Works

Published on Dec 19, 2012 by HarriL

"Not music related (yet), just a fun project with me and my friend.
More info here: http://lworbit.tumblr.com/"

"We’re going really deep with this one! And yet there’s no way that we’re going to be too serious about it.

(at this point we were testing out the basics, lined up 15 pins with alphabetics from A to O, yet we had to try writing)"

Youscope (oscilloscope demo)

video upload by tejeez

"a demo using an oscilloscope to display something. It was third in assembly 2007 shortfilm compo, and won altparty's most original demo prize. The oscilloscope is connected to PC soundcard and is in X/Y-mode, with right channel connected to X and left to Y input."
Title link takes you to more info. Via HarriL "There's a link to a youtube video in that page.
The video was made by a 16-year Finnish boy (tejeez), for a demoparty called 'Assembly' (www.assembly.org). It's basically an audiofile(available for download from the koodaa.mine.nu-page) being played from the computer into the oscilloscope. the soundtrack was obviously added later."

Duckon 2007 Singing Tesla Coil

video upload by kmelwing

"This is a solid-state Tesla coil. The primary runs at its resonant frequency in the 41 KHz range, and is modulated from the control unit in order to generate the tones you hear.

What's not immediately obvious in this video is how loud this is. Many people were covering their ears, dogs were barking. In the sections where the crowd is cheering and the coils is starting and stopping, you can hear the the crowd is drowned out by the coil when it's firing."

via HarriL. And then there was this.
