Published on May 28, 2014 KOMA Elektronik·51 videos

"On our way to NAMM'14 we dropped by RAC's studio in Portland, OR to talk about his love for his modular eurorack synthesizer! In this video Andre Allen Anjos tells all about how he got to start with his system, how he is using it in the studio and gives some tips for people who would like to start putting together their own system! The music you hear was exclusively made on the modular synthesizer during the same afternoon.

KOMA Elektronik RH301 as a master clock

Published on Oct 18, 2013 KOMA Elektronik·44 videos

"In this video we show the KOMA RH301 as a master clock for a small mixed MIDI and analog clock setup. The master clock signal of the RH301 is routed from MIDI OUT to the MIDI IN of the JOMOX XBase 09, of which the MIDI THRU is connected to the KORG Volca keys. The audio of the KORG Volca keys is being modulated and filtered by the KOMA Elektronik FT201 Filter / Sequencer, using the RH301's clock, LFO and envelope generator outputs.

New KOMA Elektronik CV Controller (Launch at NAMM'13!)

Published on Nov 30, 2012 by KOMA Elektronik

"New developments at the KOMA Elektronik workspace! Yes, you thought the KOMMANDER was cool, look at what's cooking in our kitchen:

This is the first prototype of our new product: the KONTROL SURFACE! A 2-axis touch screen controller! As of now for each channel (X and Y) has:

- 1 x CV output
- 1 x inverted CV output
- Manual gate output

Each channel also has a hold function, so it will hold the current CV value as soon as the hold button is pressed. Not yet implemented but in development is a sort of 'momentary/clocked hold function', that means that a value is only taken and processed according to a provided external clock signal OR without a clock signal attached only when there are changes in the values, so you could lift of your finger from the pad, it will hold the value and as soon as you touch the controller on another point it will start processing again and so on and so forth...

Furthermore we are going to make the Kontrol Surface into a 'Light' and a 'Pro' version. The light version will have all the functionalities as written above and as you can see in the video. The 'Pro' version will have a third axis, which is a capacitive sensor underneath the touch controller measuring the amount of surface covered, i.e. the third dimension (Z). Also the 'Pro' version will be equipped with MIDI functionality, so it can literally control everything!

Both units will be on display and ready for a thorough test drive at NAMM 2013 and will be shipping in the end of Q1 of 2013!"

Jimmy Edgar Studio Visit

YouTube Published on Aug 6, 2012 by KOMA Elektronik

"On a nice summer day the KOMA Elektronik team visited endorsed artist Jimmy Edgar at his studio in the Friedrichshain district of Berlin to talk synths, effects, and analog production techniques! See Jimmy patch his monster Eurorack synthesizer and rock the Kommander!

Jimmy Edgar is an established player in the Detroit and Berlin techno scene. He is not only a great music producer (releases on Warp Records, !K7, Poker Flat, etc.) and an awarded fashion photographer, he is also a modular synthesizer fanatic. His obsession for analogue electronics made him and us come together. Check out his new record Majenta and you know why we dig his stuff!

KOMA Elektronik KOMMANDER Demo

YouTube Published on Jul 12, 2012 by KOMAelektronik

"After a few months of delay, KOMA Elektronik's new product, the KOMMANDER, is finally in production! In this demonstation we show you some of the many features and ways to use this wonderful small device in your (modular) setup!

Order your own for 59 EUR at www.koma-elektronik.com/products/kommander/ ! The first run is only 200 units, so be quick!

The KOMMANDER is a handheld dual infrared X-Y motion controller that makes controlling your instruments intuitive and fun. The device measures the distance to your hand or any other surface and sends out corresponding CV signals between 0 and 8 volts. The closer you have your hand to the KOMMANDER, the higher the output voltage. This will allow you to create weird synth sounds, trigger a drum machine, control effect pedals or any other instrument that is capable of receiving CV signals. Because of our innovative circuit design there is no interference from stage light, so the musician can use it wherever she or he wants. Just plug the KOMMANDER into your Eurorack Modular System, Buchla, Moog, Roland or any other synthesizer and create the coolest sounds!

SPECIFICATIONS:

* 4 CV outputs
- 2 x CV Out (0-8 volts)
- 2 x Gate Out (adjustable threshold)
* 2 IR sensors with optical crosstalk
* Sensing range trimmer on the inside
* 9V DC input
* Great Black Metal design!

The Loud Objects (NYC) live at KOMA Elektronik Nerd Out

YouTube Published on Jun 20, 2012 by KOMAelektronik

"On June 7th, Berlin based effect manufacturer KOMA Elektronik hosted their first event in Berlin: the KOMA Nerd Out at their favorite hang-out O Tannenbaum in Neukoelln. Playing that night were DJWJ, Canadian Analog Video Synth magician Stan Stancil and NYC collective The Loud Object, who soldered a circuit on a overhead projector...

THE LOUD OBJECTS (USA)

The Loud Objects create electronic noise with minimal components: microchips, a power jack, an audio jack, and wire. The group solders custom audio circuits live, creating audible fluctuations of electricity with these bare elements. Gradually building a complex sound circuit, they present electronic music in a form closer to a physical instrument than a laptop. Their performances invite the audience to bear conscious witness to each musical gesture: the addition of a microchip; the soldering of an output pin to the audio jack.
