"The Kawai SX-240 is an eight voice, fully programmable polyphonic analog synthesizer released in 1984 as a follow up to the Kawai SX-210. It was manufactured by Kawai but originally released under the Teisco brand-name in Japan when Kawai bought out Teisco. The Kawai SX-240 and the Kawai SX-210 never got much attention due to entering the market during the time of the digital revolution and poor marketing. Its main analog competitors of the time were the Korg Polysix and the Roland Juno 6/60."

Synthesizer demo of the analog synthesizer Kawai SX-240 from 1985.

I used an original Korg SDD-3000 for delay effects. All the sounds were programmed by me.

The Kawai SX-240 is a nice fully programmable polysynth with interesting analog sounds. Decent Japanese quality from the mid eighties era.
It has MIDI, 2 DCOs, 1 LFO, lowpass filters, 1 Highpass filter, 2 ADSR envelopes and noise. Ensemble effect (chorus), which make full string sounds possible. Useful unisono modes like Poly-8, Poly-4 or monophonic. Split and Layer capabilities. Built in sequencer. The filters are based on SSM chips as the Korg Polysix. Very underrated, it's capable of excellent synth sounds!"

"A not so common synthesizer, often seen as KAWAI, but this time this is a rarest model released from TEISCO !

The SX-210 is a 1 DCO version of the Famous SX-240.

It has an amazing tone, creamy and lush.

the functions are easier to access than the SX-240 as there is one button for one function.

There is many possibilities of editing including a chord memory that you can set on the mono or poly 4 mode to fatten the sound.

Let's not forget to tell that this is an 8 voices polyphony synth !

This moddel on the picture as all the other SX-210 have a NiCd battery that tend to leak everywhere and destroy the synth forever.

So we have changed the whole SYN-42 (the computer board) to have a reliable synth for the future."

The utterly amazing BIT ONE (1984)

"Just played some factory sounds!

The Crumar BIT ONE is another forgotten buddy from analog heaven. It was used on early Madonna songs, and lots of Italo-Disco music.

The first 250 models had SSM2044 (Voyetra Eight, PPG Wave 2.x, Emulator I, Kawai K3, Kawai SX-240, Korg Mono/Poly, Polysix...), then they were replaced by CEM3328.

The BIT 99 is the very same synth, with CEM3328 and a better MIDI implementation. There's also the BIT 01, not to confuse with the BIT ONE, which is the BIT 99 expander.

The sound of the BIT is often recognized at the level of a Prophet or a Jupiter!

It has never been out of my studio or gigged since I got it.
Has a new memory battery installed!
Has built in Polyphonic Sequencer which can record in real time or step write modes!

Has Clock in/out jacks on the back + full MIDI in/out/thru and new TAUNTEK OS installed giving it full midi

"Tested and working good! I acquired this synth many years ago, it was in working condition but had issues that are now fixed + customized! When I got it, it had a bad voice, the end cheeks were chipped, cracked and ugly, and there was a small amount of rust at the very edges of the control panel. The ENTIRE voice board has been replaced with a BRAND NEW ONE! (NOS directly from Kawai US)! The end cheeks have been replaced with REAL WALNUT end cheeks! (So much nicer!) All they keys have been replaced with Gold and Silver 3D printed keys, buttons too! Even has a custom RED memory write button! The Silver vs Gold keys denote where the "split" is when you pay in split mode. This makes it easy to see the split while playing in split mode, even under live stage lighting conditions thus minimizing the mistake of playing a bad note by playing past the split point!"

"Straight to the point - it has just 1 functional issue (which for a gear perfectionist like myself makes me crazy). Absolutely everything works fantastic - it is in excellent condition and extremely well serviced. In all of the regular voice modes all 8 voices/2 OSC/Sub perform wonderfully - as designed. As do all buttons, knobs, display, outputs. But - when you switch to layered/split mode it drops a voice. 7 sound. All 8 sound in regular mode - 7 in layer/split. To be honest - it is quite usable regardless and in the mix it is not going to be noticeable. But if you are super-particular about perfect equipment and something like this would just bug you (like it does me) - it isn't the synth for you.

Apart from this the SX-240 is a great sounding instrument that bridges the pre-80's and 80's sound nicely. Though it has SSM filters and an ensemble effect it is not a PolySix, and it's definitely not a Juno - it truly sits in it's own pocket. Very musical. Not many 8 voice analog polys out there - to begin with - and fewer that can layer and split. Has the "ensemble" effect, HPF, Ring Mod, Patch storage. Etc Etc. And Tauntek OS increases midi control." "The pictures say it all, this particular SX-240 unit looks 99.5% perfect, like the day it rolled of the factory in Hamamatsu. Made in Japan around 1984.

Very Recently Pro Serviced in 2018 by expert techs at Futara Eletronics.

This unit is almost perfect/mint, and 100% stock, running latest O/S (not Tauntek). and is 100% factory except for the AA cell battery holder mod. This battery holder holds simple AA batteries, so no need for any soldering for future battery replacement!"

"Released in 1984, this 8-voice polyphonic synth has 2 analog DCOs and one sub-osc. Stackable in poly-8, poly4 or mono mode for a really big sound. Great for leads, bass, brass, drones, pads and strings, plus add on-board 'ensemble' (chorus) or 'brass' (ring mod) effects.

I've owned this unit since the mid-1990s, only smoke-free studio use. It is built like a tank- this one is fully functioning, have had zero issues with it. Keys, buttons, knobs, sliders all in perfect working order, MIDI works. The wood-grain sides are in good shape with only a few minor dings/scratches, and the metal casing has only a few minor scratches on the edges, one dent near the rear power supply."

Corsynth C110 2044 VCF

"The C110 2044 VCF is a four pole low pass filter based in the classic filter SSM2044. This filter chip is responsible for the sound of some well known polysynths from the 80s like the Korg Mono / Poly , Korg Polysix , Korg Trident, PPG Wave 2.2 and 2.3 ,EMU Emulator I, Kawai K3, Sx-240 , Siel Opera 6 ….

The C110 is designed using the new reissued SSI2144 IC. It is an updated version of the original SSM2044 with lower noise, better control feedthrough but preserving all the sonic characteristics of the original design.

Like many filters the SSM2044 suffer from gain loss when the resonance is increased , the C110 includes an especially designed circuit co correct that. This circuit can be activated or deactivated on the front panel allowing the user to select between the traditional response and the gain compensated response.

The C110 has temperature compensated voltage control and it will oscillate at high resonances. It can be used as an oscillator over 3-4 octaves.

The C110 main characteristics are :

Four pole response ( 24db/octave )
Gain compensation circuit
Three modulation inputs one with an attenuverter
Voltage controlled resonance
Temperature compensated
One audio input
The FM2 input has a 0,66 V/Octave response expanding the modulation range to 7,5 octaves using the typical 5V envelope.

The C110 2044 VCF is built using high quality electronic components, Switchcraft jacks, Cosmo knobs (the same used by Moog Modular) , anodized aluminum front panel…."
