"Natural Movements" - Piotr Garbaczonek x Anders Nordstrom, Live Performance

video upload by Piotr Garbaczonek

"Thanks for watching!
#modularsynth #eurorack #electroacoustic
This piece was in development for the last few weeks. This take was our last practice run before a performance at NYU on May 10th, 2023. The performance was rushed, and we were only given approximately 10 minutes to play it, which is significantly shorter than we prepared, so, therefore, we are putting out this version instead. You'll find a brief description of each of the 3 movements in this piece at the beginning of the video. Feel free to pause in order to read without rushing. Enjoy!

Ambient eurorack modular soundscape inspired by the original Blade Runner film

video upload by Piotr Garbaczonek

"Thanks for watching!
"Take a look at my latest Eurorack modular synth patch! After a long day of school or work, it's always great to unwind with some patching. I spent over an hour creating a patch that features a stereo-brassy synth sound reminiscent of the iconic Yamaha CS-80. To achieve this, I used my Instruō Cruïnn module, expertly modulated by the øchd module. The audio signal is routed into the Qu-Bit Electronix Tone, a powerful quad filter with two Low Pass channels, each modulated by varying øchd's.

The output from these filter channels is then thoroughly managed by the Make Noise X-Pan module, which features modulated X-Fade and Pan parameters that are expertly controlled by two slow LFOs on separate øchd modules. The final signal passes through the Qu-Bit Aurora, which adds a touch of blur and mix to the sound before being routed to the VCA for additional volume control. Finally, the audio exits through the Expert Sleepers ES-9.

This patch is just one example of the endless possibilities of eurorack modular synthesis. Whether you're an experienced musician or just getting started, eurorack modules like these offer a world of sonic exploration and experimentation. So sit back, relax, and enjoy this immersive audio experience.

From the manual:

What’s An FDN Reverb? FDN (Feedback Delay Network) Reverberation is a technique that, as many other digital reverb algorithms, uses delay lines to artificially add a sense of space to a sound. What makes an FDN reverb unique is that each of the delay lines (in the case of “FDN Verb” there are 8), are processed through a feedback matrix. In other words, the outputs from one delay line get scaled, and sent back to the inputs of the other delay lines. This, with a combination of internal filtering, and modulation common to other reverb algorithms quickly creates the dense reflective sounds that make up a good sounding reverb.

Qu-Bit Aurora | Spectral Reverb & Space Synthesizer

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"For me, there's nothing like plugging a reverb in my case that has a different approach to 'space'. There are procedural reverbs like Desmodus, Z-DSP, FX-AID and StarLab, there's convolution reverbs emulating real space by room measurements - and now there's a spectral reverb. It analyzes the incoming sound with a mathematcial FFT algorithm (extracting frequencies over time, creating a spectrograph) and then uses an engine (the phase vocoder) to synthesize a delay line. So it's unnatural by design, but this opens up many ways to alter the spectrum in real time, like slowing it down, pitching it, etc. I hope you'll enjoy this 'first patch' tour!

The Spectral Editor shown in the video is Izotope RX. It's the #1 sound restoration tool. Izotope also features Iris 2, a synthesizer using the same spectral techniques for music.

This video contains a snippet of Hans Zimmer's 'Time', arranged and performed by myself. It's used for educational purposes. This is an educational channel, monetizing is off and this video is not sponsored by anybody."

Qu-Bit FDN Verb - An official alt. Firmware for Aurora

video upload by Qu - Bit

"Alternate firmware downloads for eurorack modules that are already amazing. Does it get any better? At Qu-Bit, we'll keep innovating to take our instruments to the next level. As promised, here's the first official alternate firmware for Aurora, FDN Verb. Did we mention it's free?

https://www.qubitelectronix.com/alter...

And as you hopefully already know--the process of updating to FDN Verb couldn't be easier. Simply download the file from the link above, put it on your USB drive that came with Aurora, and power cycle the module. Make sure to check out the manual for FDN Verb in addition to watching this video.

FDN Verb is a Feedback Delay Network reverb algorithm for the Aurora platform. Think of it as your bread and butter end of chain reverb, with a few tricks up its sleeve. Alongside incredibly present room reverbs, and wide lush halls, FDN Verb gives you control over highpass and lowpass filtering of the reverb, pitch modulation, and a separate input level knob from Mix, all for dialing in the perfect reverb to complement your sound."

SPECTRAL REVERB | Qu-Bit Electronix - Aurora

video upload by DANIELE

"Aurora is an amazing spectral reverb by Qu-Bit Electronix!

From the manual: WTF Is FFT? The most common way to create a phase vocoder for audio applications is the Fast Fourier Transform(FFT). This algorithm gets its name from the French mathematician Joseph Fourier (1768-1830), who theorized that any complex sound could be recreated using a sum of individual sine waves. The FFT algorithm separates the time and pitch domain aspects of an input signal. Once in this form, we can change the pitch data without affecting time, and vice versa."

Qu - Bit Aurora Tutorial 1: Getting Started

video upload by Qu - Bit

"Welcome to Aurora, a spectral reverb capable of a wide palette of sounds: from lush caverns and whale songs, to alien textures you've never created before. And likely, will invoke a hunger for exploration you felt when you first touched a modular synth.

Aurora uses a phase vocoder audio engine which separates the input signal's time and pitch domains. By blurring these signals you can achieve beautiful time-stretched tails, or cybernetic metallic effects.

Since Aurora’s sonic response is entirely dependent on the input signal, no two patches will sound alike, lending itself to an infinite world of surprise and discovery.

Discovery. It’s why we are all here."

Introducing Qu-Bit Aurora: Spectral Reverb

video upload by Qu - Bit

"It's a reverb. Well...kind of.
Welcome to Aurora, a spectral reverb capable of a wide palette of sounds: from icy shimmers and whale songs, to alien textures and sounds you’ve never heard before. And likely, will invoke a hunger for exploration you felt when you first touched a modular synthesizer.

Whether you’re creating beautiful time-stretched tails, or cybernetic metallic effects, Aurora gives you control over how far from reality you want to be. By blurring these signals we can achieve cavernous reverberations and spectral artifacts.

Since Aurora’s sonorous response is entirely dependent on the input signal, no two patches will sound alike, lending itself to an infinite world of surprise and discovery.

Discovery. It’s why we are all here."

NAMM 2020: Qu-Bit Data Bender, Cascade, Surface & Aurora

Published on Jan 18, 2020 Perfect Circuit

"Qu-Bit debuted four new modules at NAMM 2020, including the remarkable Data Bender.

Qu-Bit presented the Aurora reverb, Surface physical modeling voice, and Cascade envelope generator—but of all their new offerings, we were most taken with the Data Bender. Andrew Ikenberry describes in detail the inner workings of this peculiar and outright destructive new Eurorack effect.

Designed to create several flavors of glitches and audio defects, the Data Bender is at its core an up to five minute digital audio buffer. Geared toward creating the sounds of failing recording technology (like neglected tapes, skipping CDs, and software glitches), the Data Bender turns "undesirable" sounds into entirely new types of musical effects.
