Superbooth 2023: Animal Factory - Asura Dual Osc Wavetable Synth

video upload by sonicstate

"We spoke to Aditya, the founder of Animal Factory Amplification, who showcased their new prototype synthesizer, the Asura, at Superbooth 2023. The Asura is a standalone synthesizer that features two wavetable oscillators that can be summed or set to modulate each other, which then goes into a distortion circuit, instead of a filter, allowing for idiosyncratic sound creation.
Aditya also revealed that they spent time during the pandemic to develop the definitive versions of their pedals, including the Pit Wiper, Chemical Burn, Baron, Gaudi, and their new analog phaser called the Phasier. The new pedals are designed in-house, including the metal casting, and will feature extended controls and level boosts for certain settings.

The Animal Factory Amplification pedals come with soft switches for true bypass and have improved features compared to their previous models. Aditya mentioned that they are still working on the production of the pedals, with die casting being one of the biggest challenges they faced. Nonetheless, they expect the pedals to be available in about three to six months. For more information on the Asura and Animal Factory Amplification's pedals, check out their website at https://animalfactoryamps.com/."

NAMM 22: Animal Factory Amplification - Tannhauser Gates Quad VCA

video upload by sonicstate

"Animal Factory Amplification make loud and alive pedals and Eurorack modules that embrace warmth, overdrive and delicious harmonic ruin.

Aditya told us that AFA have spent the past year re-designing their entire range, building an ecosystem of modules that work together and can patch internally. and are now finally able to share some of them with the world at NAMM.

Among the modules Aditya showed us was the prototype of Tannhauser Gates, a Quad VCA Mixer gives us 4 VCAs each with tilt eq, panning, and stereo send, return and stereo out, but it can also send and receive channels from up to 3 other Tannhauser units via internal patching, creating an expandable mixing system.

We also met up with Bonesaw VCF with individual lowpass, bandpass and highpass outputs, CV control over cutoff, FM amount and resonance. A pre-filter drive beefs up your signal, and with resonance cranked way up, it can be used as a super-screamy oscillator.

Tannhauser Gates available July. Price: 400 USD

Coma Reactor available soon. Price 225 USD

Bonesaw VCF available now. Price around 200 USD

Other modules price and availability TBC.

Animal Factory Amplification - Three new modules

video upload by John Schussler

"Animal Factory Amplification consistently turns out some of the best distortion modules available. I have, well, all of them.

Today I got a shipment of the three latest modules: two are upgrades of existing models, and one is brand new. At the time of this video's creation the manuals weren't yet available, so I'm having to guess a bit as to functionality. Take my commentary with a grain of salt.

Baron Samedi and Pit Viper have both been reworked as surface mount rather than through hole point-to-point wired PCBs. I tried them side by side, and hear no significant difference between the older and newer modules in terms of the quality of sound.

The newer versions do, however, have some new tricks up their sleeve, which you'll see shortly.

And then there's the entirely new module: Bonesaw, a filter with built in FM and drive so as to properly fit in to the nasty, grimy, tear it up, huge tone sound AFA is famous for.

Sequence: Stochastic IG. Envelope: Zadar

08:14 Pit Viper
