I have read so many comments like 'PB is weak' 'PB Lacks Character' 'PB is nothing special'

I could not disagree more. Like any instrument, the PB takes time to learn, I agree on first instance it's not easy to dial in anything special, but the more time I spend on this synth, the more special it is becoming.

it is not to be overlooked, it can be just as fat as any other poly synth, and when the correct balance is fount it oozes character.

Moog One - Epic Split! who says it can't do plucks?!

I have read in so many forums regarding the Moog One's Lack of attack and punch in the envelopes, this split patch aptly called 'SM Epic Split' consists of sizzling bass on the left of the key bed and searing pluck on the right.

Anyone who wrongly believes the moog one to lack in punch especially for plucks , keys & leads can listen to this. it is just as snappy as any other synth I own.

The biggest problem with programming custom sounds, is my inability to refrain from jamming :)

Currently working on some tasty new sounds for the Nord Lead 4, and decided to jam along to my P6 SM Octave Keys patch from Divinty Vol.1 - [posted here]

Hoping to have my first Nord Bank complete by end of November, my usual mixture of pads, leads, basses arps etc. Will also be utilising the binaural features of the NL4 too, some lovely sounds indeed.

So the ‪@Oberheim‬ team have let us all in for an unexpected and very exciting surprise! The newly released Firmware 2.0 has taken what was an incredible instrument to completely new levels!

Multiple Wave Shape Selection/Combinations - adding to the OB-X8's sonic capabilities!
An additional 4 Pole Bass Compensated resonant filter (which sounds amazing!)
New Doubles+ & Split+ Banks, which allow independent editing and saving of patches without the need to point them towards single sounds in the main banks!

Poly Chain for up to 4 units which would give the user 32 voices of pure OB goodness! and much more!

I invested in the OB-X8 desktop which now gives me 16 voices of incredible sound! - This video is really just to let you hear the Poly Chain & Binaural sound in action,

it's only my first day playing with this new firmware, but thought you would all love to hear how it actually sounds.

Video is completely dry, no effects, just a little bit of compression and limiting to catch any peaks.

This is a very common question I am asked by owners. and curious potential buyers of the moog one, "Can it do realistic piano sounds?"

Obviously the best thing for these type of sounds is either the real thing or romplers.

but me being me, I thought I'd try and see how close I could get it. And not surprisingly, the Moog One gets quite close bearing in mind it is fully analog.

the musical piece, I composed while programming this patch, I have aptly named it 'ONE'

Groove Synthesis - 3rd Wave - Is Not Just a new PPG!

it is so much more than just a new take on the PPG, The 3rd wave not only can replicate the vintage PPG sound, but can also sound seriously fat, warm, smooth, not brittle, and the frequency balance from low to highs is the best I have heard in any synth to date!

It is no surprise this synth is winning so many awards, it plays, sounds and programs like a dream! from delicate tones to fat growling basses, it can really do them all! I tip my hat to the @GrooveSynthesis team for this remarkable synth!

Not only that, but it is 4 synths in one box, each with dedicated sequencer, effects and audio outputs per synth.

This is one serious amount of synth for the buck, yes it sounds expensive, but the groove guys have gone all out with this and spared the user no expense! the luxury of 24 voices, each with Dave Rossum designed 2140 analog low-pass filters per voice, SEM Styled Modelled Filter that runs in series to further sculpt your sound pallets."

I received the multi/poly a couple of weeks ago, but have been too busy to try her out until yesterday & today. and have to say, this synth is astonishing!

it's Fat! and when I say fat i mean FAT! it's early days exploring this synth, but it sounds incredible. This patch is a single layer utilising 3 oscillators and the motion sequencer to create a very well balanced and full bass sequence. the synth just sounds amazing!

So here it is, my first bank of 2024 and first instalment for the Groove Synthesis 3rd Wave. This custom bank took longer than I had anticipated due to the multi-timbrality features of the 3rd Wave.

Many of these Patches have 1, 2, 3 or even 4 sounds per patch, and it is always worth hitting the Play button on the sequencer to see what surprises it may bring :)

Bank contains, Leads, Basses, Strings, Arps, Splits, Binaural, Keys and the expected lush pads.

I have loved programming this synth, it is an absolute pleasure to work with! Hats off to a great synth with a fantastic UI design by the Groove Dudes.

By very popular request, following the success of Lustral Vol.1. I continued on with the amazing PolyBrute 12, creating Vol.2 which features another 96 Custom patches, Leads, Basses, Classic Polys, Arps, Sequences and.....Binaural!! yes Binaural!

it is not s feature that was highly advertised by Arturia, (if advertised at all), but yes indeed the PolyBrute 6 and 12 can do 100% Binaural patches!

I will follow up in the coming days with a youtube tutorial on exactly how to get the binaural sounds from your synth!

Groove Synthesis - 3rd Wave - Warm Tones

Definitely looking to be in the honeymoon period with this synth for a long time, I like to try all sorts when first programming on a new machine, from complex to relatively simple but lush sounds.

I am a firm believer that in the right context, less is more, select the best tone and filtering, add some nice dynamics, subtle mods and you can play for hours. I guess the piano, rhodes, acoustic guitar and so many instruments are just exactly that.

This to me has turned out to be one of those patches. no fancy frills, just warm , lush and very enjoyable to jam away with.

Arturia PolyBrute 12 - 64 Step Uplifting Dance Sequence

As you know I always like to test out the envelopes by creating apowerful pluck like sound, nothing better than that woody sound when the filter is low.
This also utilises the overdub ability of the sequencer, along with the motion record too.

Arturia PolyBrute 12 - Expressive Analog Strings.

As capable as the PolyBrute is at hugely complex modulated sounds, it really shines at subtle expressivity. This patch uses poly aftertouch to add additional expression control to the analog strings. The Morph button slowly brightens and widens the sound to give it a more cinematic and beautiful feel.
