"I got a new keyboard! The Studiologic Numa Compact is a great combination stage piano/synthesizer that has bi-timbral voicing, 4 simultaneous built-in FX plus reverb, and studiologic's great organ emulations. The only issue I have with it is that the filter control is very fiddly, being located on a spring-loaded joystick. This simple hack installs a potentiometer and switch on the front panel to allow fine control of the filter frequency on all patches."

Also used are some of the hidden parameters, such as other Filter types that are in the Waldorf Blofeld, though not accessible from the front panel of the Sledge, such as Notch Filters."

"The Studiologic Sledge is a fantastic looking, taxi-cab yellow virtual analog synth with amazing sonic possibilities, including traditional waveforms (sawtooth/pulse/triangle), FM, sync, Waldorf wavetable synthesis, and the new Waldorf sample library. "I made this to save you the trouble. I WANT to love this synthesizer but sadly the system is UNSTABLE, even at version 2.5.1. Ghosting patches, INIT patch freeze ups etc. I contacted the company and the matter was downplayed and I didn't even hear back in the final round of questioning. I sent it back and got a synth with a stable core."

"I had this Studiologic Sledge at home for a few days en route to the school, so I took a couple of hours to make a few patches. Of course much more could be done with this nice synth, but given the little time I had, I decided to test it on a bunch of classic sounds.

I found that the Sledge has a rather aggressive basic sound, with a definite personality. A more extended modulation matrix would have been welcome, but I guess that the goal here was to achieve that one-knob-per-function feel.

All sounds programmed from scratch, with no external effects or processing except for a little bit of eq."

Studiologic NUMA

I'm guessing this is a MIDI controller keyboard only. Not much info on the Studiologic site. According to juri on the Waldorf list the physical design (think appearance) was designed by Axel Hartmann who also designed the Blofeld's look.

Axel Harmann also designed the look for the MOOG Little Phatty, Alesis Andromeda an other synths. He also of course produced the Hartmann Neuron.

BTW, if you know what synths he worked on, feel free to list them out in the comments. It would be interesting to know them all.

Some pics of the of the Studiologic Sledge with the synth engine by Waldorf.  The stand out for me on the Sledge is the interface.  Everything is big and spread out which invites you to explore it in a way you might not on Waldorf's own Blofeld synth.  Note that although the technology is similar between the two, they are slightly different.  If you haven't watched them yet, see this post for a video overview of the engine, and this one for audio demos from our friends at Sonicstate.
