V.A.I. 62 Welson Stereo Symphony / Maestro USS / Maestro Rhythmking 4 / Ekosynth
video upload by Vintage Audio Institute Italia
This appears to be the first post to feature the Meastro Rhythm King 4.
"The mighty Welson Stereo Symphony is a rare Italian string machine with modulation stereo capabilities that are quite unique.
The Maestro USS is the first multi- effect for guitars: phaser, envelope follower, octave follower, Sample and hold etc.
The Meastro Rhythm King 4 is a drum machine with a rhythmic, tremolo modulation - chopping up whatever sound source you give the input in the back."

Exploring 2 Welson Stereo Symphony !
video upload by Vintage Audio Institute Italia
"Welson Stereo Symphony - sometimes called Welson Stereo Orchestra.
A rare, Italian string machine from the mid 70's with brass, trumpet, Piano and Harpsichord presets and multiple panning controls.
We just got two of these back from repairs so thought we'd make a comparison video.
To our ears they sound very similar, as should be, but some presets do differ a bit.
This could be because of ageing components and calibration, or the fact that only a small number of these were ever made, at least compared to the Solina String Ensemble or Logan String Melody, and small production runs don't have the same consistency as the large ones.
Volume and sustain controls for each presets at the split point, maybe a bit excessive but anyways - this is a great sounding instrument in our opinion.
Playing around with the preset and Orchestra pan options gives you a wider range of sounds than your normal string machine."

Stringer 3.0 - Solina, Logan, Pink Floyd Shine On!
video by virtualoberheim
"Demo of the SonicProjects Stringer 3.0 virtual String machine. All heard sounds are coming directly from the stereo output of Stringer with no external effects involved.
The sampled machines:
- Logan String Melody II
- ARP Omni 2
- Welson Symphony
For the sampling hi-end Apogee Rosetta AD converters (clock jitter less than 22ps) were used which results in unparalleled depth and 3-dimensional feel.
The loop lenghts are up to 4 seconds matching the original beats so that no looping at all can be heard.
The first version of Stringer was released in September 2006 introducing the dual sample engine design.

SonicProjects Stringer - ARP Omni, Logan, Solina
YouTube via virtualoberheim
"http://www.sonicprojects.ch/stringer/
Already quite an old video, now finally provided on youtube too. All sounds in the video are coming from the SonicProjects Stringer.
Stringer was released in September 2006.
SonicProjects Stringer is a VSTi plugin for windows that provides top quality samplesets of the following 3 string machines:
- ARP Omni 2 ( the successor of Solina )
- Logan String Melody II
- Welson Symphony
You can get more informations about these machines here:
http://www.sonicprojects.ch/stringer/...
Each of these machines has its own distinct sound. The three different characters complement each other very well:
ARP Omni 2:
Clear, shining, shimmering
Logan String Melody II:
Fat, warm, organic, middy
Weson Symphony:
Balanced, restrained, smooth
The goal was to achieve the highest audio quality possible in order to leave the original sound untouched. That's why only highend equipment and a reference wordclock were used to sample every single key of the machines at 24 bit resolution. The 241 samples were then restaurated and cleaned from hum and noise. To preserve the original movements within the sound the loop points were searched manually according to the natural "loops" caused by beats which resulted in loop lenghts up to 4 seconds. With this method the looped sampled tone can't be distinguished from the original and there are no noteiceable loop points. A lot of work, but worthy to capture those really glorious sounding machines with the original character leaving untouched.
You can listen to clips in better audio quality than youtube and in stereo here:
http://www.sonicprojects.ch/stringer/...
There are two engines that allow to layer and split two sounds, tune and pan them, and change the attack and release times. The two engines even can be sent to individual stereo outs on demand for separate external processing.
The samples are completely loaded into the RAM (140mb), no disk streaming needed. This means: Compact and easy on CPU. Available for Receptor too with free crossgrade from the PC version.
Note that there are also a few other string machine emulating plugins containing "Stringer" in their names:
- Falkelab Stringer
- Numerikart Stringy Stringazoide Stringer
- Easytoolz easy-mr.stringer"
