Steve's Eminent/Arp Solinas (by synthpro)

video by synthpro

"Hey Guys,

This is a look at the latest two projects I have been working on for Steve.
Once of these units were extremely rusty so sandblasted it and repainted the interface parts. There was also a broken key stop and had been replaced with a stop that was too short to adjust key height as well as would not hold a key bushing. I had a donor polymoog key stop I installed and was able to align key and install all new key bushings.

Bottom unit got a good electronic servicing as well as a keyboard rebuild with new key bushings but cosmetically, it will just be getting a good cleaning.

Here is a link for those that may have missed the video going over the guts:" [posted here]

Minimoog History 1971-1981 (by synthpro)

synthpro

"Hey Guys,

Today, I thought I would take a little time to document some of the changes across the minimoog production from 1971-1980.

Serial #s reviewed is as follows:

R.A Moog SN: 1037 built 3/71
Early Moog Music SN 1548 Built 6/8/72
Moog Music SN 6768 Built 1/29/75
Late Moog Music SN 13061 Build date unknown

Here is the link for the musonics minimoog: [posted here]

I did forget to finish explaing the Pitch/Mod Wheel changes:
3/1971- 7/1972 used the clear wheels

7/ 1972-1973 used the blocky white wheels, (here is a video explaing these style wheels: [Alan's below]

1974-1/1975 used the smooth edged cream wheels

1975-1981 used the ribbed wheels found on most moog models

1982 went back to clear wheels as a special edition run

Thanks for watching, and for the support!

Sincerely,
Jareth"

Alan's Roland System 100 model 104 sequencer repair (by synthpro)

synthpro

A peak inside a Roland System 100 model 104 sequencer.

"This is a personal video I made for Alan going over some diagnostics of his sequencer but figured some of you may enjoy this as well. issues were that it would not sequence and no gate switching. This was new territory for me so was unfamiliar with normal operation clock DC voltages/pk to pk voltage.

to sum up the repair:

The output of the pulse width circuit goes into the Anode (positive side of the diode) D205 and with the negative DC offset out of the pulse width circuit; it would not turn the diode on causing all the problem."

Herb Deutsch's Moog SOB (by Synthpro)

synthpro

"Hey Guys,

Here is a little different video for all of you going over Herb's Moog SOB (better known as the Opus 3) and the history of this particular instrument released by moog back in the 80s.

Herb was involved in the design of the Opus 3 and I am very honored to have the opportunity to work on his actual instrument.

(Note: when showing the Chorus schematics I did forget to address that the 2 LFOs are modulating at 20Hz and a 2Hz signal...this is also how you get slow/fast rate based off which LFO is selected. These LFOs are actually modulating the clocking oscillator running at roughly 300kHz to clock the SAD512s....this is that circuit behind where I talk about the sine wave conversion)

Thanks again Herb and to all of you who watch my videos.

Sincerely,
Jareth"

"This is the second/final part of the series on Herb's SOB (Opus 3).

Thanks again Herb and to all of you who watch, I greatly appreciate the support.

Jareth"

"This is my much loved Poly Evolver that is for sale. I am cleaning house of some of the gear I have collected over the years and its time to send them on their way to another musician.

Note: I am NOT getting out of the synth restoration business nor am I getting rid of my shop...I may be moving out of the house where I live into something smaller so thats the reason for the sale of this gear.

Appreciate all the support and will definitely be more restorations and other videos to come.

Sincerely,
Jareth"

"This is an early 12 bit unit, pre DCB, serial number xxx949...

Diagnostics and repair performed by Jareth Lackey of Synthpro Restorations, LLC.

Service included repair of an oscillator that wouldn’t track, a wave shape circuit repair, replacement of two op amps, five interface buttons, oscillator sync switch , one broken key, and the save battery which was recently replaced on a separate trip to Synthpro.

Recently gone through, every function works as they should, and the factory presets were restored due to the battery replacement

The bottom of E4 key is chipped, shown in pictures, and the pulse width modulation slider wiggles loose, also shown in pictures. The slider must be stabilized when using. Despite this, it has a smooth reaction, and is not a wiper or carbon track issue but a broken actuator. It works as it should otherwise.
