twinCUSSION 4

Published on Oct 18, 2018 vermonagear

"This video presents a small patch using only the available space within our Modular Case 104. If you follow our performance, you will find us mainly playing this patch using the modules’ switches and buttons. While we were pleased with the sound of this patch and found it worth being published we also found it worth showcasing such method of patch control where we cannot mess anything up as switches and buttons allow for jumping between settings at no risk.

twinVCFilter

The twinVCFilter is driven into self-oscillation on both sections, forming a dual sine wave oscillator. The first sections’ frequency modulates the second section for enhanced timbre control.
Both filter sections are controlled by the ER-101.
The filter’s output is fed to the Morphing Terrarium’s (MT) sync input while the output of the MT is used to amplitude-modulate the twinVCFilter’s output. Mostly we let the MT run at lower frequencies to misuse it as an envelope generator in this patch. This does not work just perfect, but it also shows how flexible modular can be.

twinCUSSION 1 (left)

Section A is pitch-modulated by a mix of its envelope output and its sine wave output. This allows bending the waveforms symmetry while retaining the pre-patched pitch bend. Toggling the frequency range switch to HI while shortening the envelope’s decay drastically down gives a nice and sharp click sound and makes up for an excellent alternative to the voluminous kick, that we achieve when setting the range switch to LO position while increasing the decay again.
Section B receives CV-data from the ER-101 sequencer. We also routed a voiceover into the square wave output, where it gets mangled with the internal waveform. By toggling the waveform switch, we can drastically change the final output of this section.

twinCUSSION 2 (right)

Section A receives the noise output of twinCUSSION 1 which is being amplified using the twinVCAmp. This way we trim the mix ratio between internal and external signals. Thus we can select between clean and noisy sounds to switch between drums and snare.
Section B generates the hihats and is amplitude-modulated by its sine wave outputs resulting in some tremolo-like effect.

The sum of all drum sounds is amplitude-modulated by an envelope to achieve global dynamic control over the drums itself and the inserted voice sample.

We hope you enjoyed this patch and that we could lift your imagination in modular ways.
Thanks for watching!

Polyphonic Dreams: PERfourMER MKII, meloDICER and MEX3

video upload by vermonagear

"The PERfourMER MKII is sequenced by a meloDICER directly via MIDI through the MEX3 module. With MEX3 the meloDICER can create sequences with up to three voices.

The Floatingpoints Instruments (formerly @ERMErfindungsbuero) Multiclock is used as a MIDI controller for the additional REST parameters of voices two and three as well as for controlling velocity and ACCENT probability.

The @OTOMACHINES BIM is the only effect used in this performance.

Enjoy the show!

Brothers 👨‍👦‍👦 (Vermona DRM1 MKIV 8-voice analog drum synth // Perfourmer MKII + H9 + Bigsky + Pill)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"First video featuring the Vermona DRM-1 8-voice analog drum synth 😊 For a long time I've been stopping myself from getting one as I already have the MAM ADX-1 which is a bit an ancestor of this DRM-1! But the Vermona Perfourmer was feeling a bit lonely 😅

In this video, I decided to use my DAW to sequence both instruments as I wanted to be able to "play" the knobs on the instruments 😉

The track starts with the BASS (Voice 1 of the Perfourmer) and PLUCK (Voice 3 panned left & voice 4 panned right, of the Perfourmer through the H9 reverb). Then comes the KICK (Voice 1 of the DRM1) which is going into the Pill ducking pedal to trigger it.
Afterwards arrives the LEAD (Voice 3 of the Perfourmer through the Bigsky reverb + Pill ducking pedal) and the 7 other voices of the DRM1 (wanted initially to use them through the Particle granular delay, but didn't have enough time to blend it in! 😅).

* Hardware used *

// BASS:
- Vermona Perfourmer Voice 1

// LEAD:
- Vermona Perfourmer Voice 2 + Strymon Bigsky (reverb) + Pill (ducking pedal)

// PLUCK:
- Vermona Perfourmer Voices 3&4 + Eventide H9 Max (reverb)

// DRUMS:
- Vermona DRM1 (8-voice analog drum synth)

meloDICER/MEX3 — Jam Session with Logic Pro

video upload by vermonagear

"We hooked up two MeloDICER/MEX3-collectives to control software instruments in Logic Pro.

The left meloDICER is playing a bass guitar software instrument with a repeating pattern. The right meloDICER hits the keys of an electric piano plugin. It runs freely without repeating patterns while we are changing some settings regarding REST probability for voices 2 and 3, rhythm and melody.

Logic Pro is the drummer.

We hope you enjoy our little jam session. Feel free to leave a comment below if you have any questions or hints and would be happy to receive a thumbs up from you.

Trickledown Modular Tetris - A Quick Test After Filling The Holes

video upload by John L Rice

"Another quick test after changes. This is another side affect of the @vermonagear MEX3 coming out, because when making changes to my briefcase system I ended up stealing the @4ms_company Wav Recorder from this system for it, so I had to fill in the left over 6hp of space with something else. 😅🤓 I put in the @division6labs Mix VI and @noiseeng Clep Diaz."

Retroverb Lancet: More Than Just a Spring Reverb

video upload by vermonagear

"We have several spring reverb products, but Retroverb Lancet is our most versatile. It has a multimode filter, a VCA section, and an overdrive.

For modulation sources, Retroverb Lancet has an LFO that can be synced to incoming gate signals, an envelope generator, and an envelope follower.

Do you know the typical sound of a spring reverb that has been kicked? With Retroverb Lancet, you can create that sound with the push of a button, or even trigger it with an external gate signal thanks to its unique CRASH function.

Retroverb Lancet is so flexible that it can even create percussive sounds. We made all the sounds in this video using it. If you want to learn more about Retroverb Lancet, please visit our homepage (www.vermona.com). You can also leave your comments below, and we will be happy to answer them.

TwinVCFilter Pinging Performance

video upload by vermonagear

"In this patch, we're using twinVCFilter as the sole sound source to demonstrate its versatility and sonic richness. FourMative CONTOURS is used as the pinging source for both filter sections. The envelope itself is triggered by randomRHYTHM.
One of the filter sections is sequenced by the 1V/OCT out of meloDICER.
All CUTOFF frequencies and the MIX function of twinVCFilter are modulated internally and by a fourMULATOR and a uniCYCLE."
