TTSH & ARP sequencer - initial tests
Published on Sep 27, 2014 DJjondent
"The TTSH (Two Thousand Six Hundred) project is a 'clone' or retro ARP 2600.
As you can see I haven't completely finished the job but it's almost there. Sounds very very much like my vintage 2600, though there are many subtle differences in the components and in how they are put together. Zthee has done an awesome job & tried wherever possible to remain faithful to ARP's original design.
As a modern take on a classic synth it bloody good & is as close as you can get to the real thing without having to fork out 7-10K.
Plus building it has given me much pleasure and a greater appreciation for the vintage 2600.
So if you like to solder then I highly recommend you give this a go.
Here is a link to my build notes:

Peace, good luck and have fun."

Formant Test Zero Zero Zero One
YouTube via zthee
"OK, so I tried to do some formant sounds. But I kinda failed - and it became some kinda techno instead.
It's the CGS VCO through a Serge Wavemultiplier (middle section) and then a Serge VCFQ - where the Q and the frequency is feed the same CV. The CV comes from the sequencer and is lagged by the DSG. There's 3 function generators as well - one is clocking the sequencer, one is acting as a AR, and the third is triggered every 8th step, and then triggering the CV WMX.
Also trying my new toy - a Nikon D90. Which made realize that I need a tripod, it's waaay to heavy to hold with just one hand. Since it won't autofocus it's all kinda blurry, since I forgott to adjust it while shooting."

Crazy Modular Carnival Theme
YouTube via zthee. "It sounds like a deranged carnival theme to me..."
Modular Synth Bleeps
"A patch where the digital outputs from the CGS31 triggers the sequencer both up and down. The CGS31 is clocked extranly from a FG controlled by the sequencer. Hence some steps will be shorter and others will be longer - causing the sequncer to behave kind of spastic.
And then there's 2 function generators with some cross modulation that goes into the CGS38 making all the sounds..
I added some reverb to the clip."

Simple modular sequence.
YouTube via zthee
"Trying to do a clip with decent audio.
CGS59 controlling pitch of the function generator and also the division of the VC divider - acting as a sub oscillator. The sweeping sound is from the CGS39 with one input being the FG and the other a LFO."

Playing with the programmer / sequencer.
YouTube via zthee
"Playing with the CGS59 programmer / sequencer.
It's connected to the boolean logic module causing it to step the way it does.
The Function generators provide the sound + envelopes for the VCA.
No filter, it's just a slow triangle from one FG into the CGS38 causing it to do the sweeping sound.
And I'm gonna need more patch cables before I can start to make anything that sound more interesting... And a second panel, with real oscillators and filters."

SEQU Sequencer
via zthee on this electro-music.com thread where you can find more.
"It's a sequencer based on the Seku by Mauno Tuominen (link).
The whole thing started of as an idea to build a simple gate sequencer using only CMOS. I thought that by using just 2 4017 and some logic I could get it all to work. But after some trial and error - that just resulted in failure. I gave it up.. (The basic problem was that I never got it to reset at the right step. It was either to early or to late..) ..and decided to build the Seku instead.
I'm not sure I'm gonna get it all to work. But the LEDs light up fine (except for LED 6 and 16 which I have the wrong way around..). I'm gonna try the CV portion out tomorrow, and I hope I'm able to finish the gates aswell."
