The KLF - What Time Is Love (Cornfields Version)

YouTube via sizzor87454. No synth pictured in the video, but let's just say this one showcases the Roland TB-303. It's one of my favorite TB-303 basslines from back then. It begins to take over about halfway into the track. Another one of my other favorite 303 tracks at the time was Lords of Acid's "I Sit on Acid" and not the current version floating around. A friend of mine had a version of the track that was all squelchy 303 with no distortion. If anyone knows were to find this earlier version or has even heard it feel free to comment. BTW, for KLF and rave fans, check out this live performance in 1989. Not the best audio but kind of fun to watch, especially with the keyboard hanging off the tower. Make sure to read the discription by clicking "more" when there.

Synth Ringtones

For those of you that just have to have them, title link takes you to the details on Sun Pop Blue, or you can go directly here to listen to and download them. Serge and Roland JX-8P are featured. BTW, anyone know if there's free ringtone software out there for making your own?

Kraftwerk Pocket Calculator on Bee Gees Rhythm Machine

YouTube via peahix.

"Further adventures in extreme music geekdom. This is me playing Kraftwerk's "Pocket Calculator" on a Mattel Bee Gees Rhythm Machine keyboard, followed by Kraftwerk's Ralf Hutter playing the song live one their Mattel Bee Gees Rhythm Machine. Except theirs is all painted black to hide the "Bee Gees" bit. Clever. You can also see this keyboard on the "Computer World" LP jacket. The other hand-held noisemakers are a Stylophone, TI Language Translator (same sound chip as the Speak & Spell), and a home-made electronic percussion trigger." Sent my way via J Lesser.

And the original. YouTube via technik.

HarriL - Your Drummachine (Live)

video upload by HarriL

"MP3 Here: http://www.mikseri.net/music/play.php...

A new live electro-house'ish track featuring the Korg ESX on samples, drums and effects processing for guitar. EMX on synths and drums. Novation KS handling Vocoding and synth.

I have been wanting to test the vocoder in my K-Station for a while now, and now I got the chance. I'ts weird yes i know :)
And no, there's no great meaning behind the words "I want to be your drummachine" That's all i could think of while playing this.

I had to cut the video down a bit (about a minute), because of the youtube lenght limits. The you can hear the full higher quality version from the Mp3.

Comments are welcome :)

Enjoy!"

15 Questions to Barry Schrader

"In the 70s, Schrader was one of the first to work with the now famous Buchla 100 Modular Synthesizer (also played by Wendy Carlos, among others) and at the forefront of a movement which would change the face of the music world forever. Today, meanwhile, his analog equipment from that period is mostly considered "retro" at best and, although only 30 years old, considered as out-of-date by many."

Update: Barry Schrader's Lost Atlantis is all Buchla. I added it to the Synth CDs list on the right of the site.
