Roland SH-1000

YouTube via AutomaticGainsay

"Do yourself a favour, and NEVER READ any review of the SH-1000 on the internet. ALL of them inaccurately portray the Roland SH-1000. Hopefully, this video will bring some accuracy and clarity. Feel free to link to this video or post it on your page, but please give me credit by marking it "by Marc Doty." Thanks!"

"Roland Sh1000manual
The Sh1000 has historical value being the first synth Roland made but it is also a great little monophonic synth. As Marc Doty below says , dont believe everything thats written or said on the net cause its just one persons opinion. Use you own eyes and ears to evaluate what you like. The presets sound great and can be changed by frequency mod /amp mod. The synth section is very easy to use and you have great control over sound shaping . All parts of the users synthesis section are easy to use and have a very unique sound . The filter section is especially good sensitive ,powerful and raw. it also has some very unique controls such as random noise switch which can be modulated in a number of ways.Very stable tuning with easy access to 3 tuning points ; the pitch knob on the front section (up a 5th /down 5th ) , overall tuning pot on the input section and a tuning pot on the bottom of the keyboard for adjusting the pitch spread of the octaves."

self-built 16 step sequencer

YouTube via dietzel
"This is a 16 step sequencer constructed after a semester of "hardware hacking" at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, taught by nicolas collins

built from two 10-step CMOS 4017 counter chips, clock is a 74c14 oscillator, then through a 4046 chip. the counter chips has a 4093 chip inbetween to reverse the clock, which is why at one point the two chips start counting paralell to each other"

One last Wiki Poll

Now that NAMM coverage is winding down, I thought I'd revisit the WIKI and List poll one last time. It looks like there is some interest so I am leaning towards opening them up and freezing the current Forum. Feel free to comment in the old post.
