Joy division pulsar cp1919 wavetable

via Gsynth on the forum

"it would cycle through each step in the pulsar as each page in the table
this would show the harmonic content i guess

it looks similar to the wavetrip wavetables harmonic content [image below]

problems:
1 probably not a very musical sound but who knows
2 you cant see all the peaks
3 i have no clue how to make a wave table

solutions:
1 make slight minor adjustments to "tune" the harmonics while still keeping it looking like the original
2 find a historic chart or diagram or recordings possibly? or guess/ make it up as long as it sounds good
3 someone else could make it please? maybe it could be loaded as a sample into the waldorf blofeld

anyways that would be really amazing if anyone could help me with this"

It would definitely be interesting. Anyone up to the task or know where to start?

"this is half an effects box and half keyboard. It is triggered by and processes external signals. It has cool distortion plus "Synthe Wah" If the TB-303 is "acid" the X-911 is "crack" It has external FM input, VCF freq. mod input, Cv/Hz in's/outs, Trig in/outs. It has Attack Decay Attack(ADA) envelope & for the filter just Attack & Decay. this thing is amazing you flip from a twisted filtered input to the sound triggering a "303-ish" type synth. or for some added "CHEEEZ" switch the balance the "preset" side where you can use or combine bass,tuba(why?) trumpet, dist. guitar,violin, flute(oh boy!) this is a totally isolated synth from the "wave" based side.pulse,square, saw. Well to sum up this this is a very unique piece! Very "dirty" sounding. An LFO would be nice as well as a resonance control (+self oscillating) It looks like half of a TR-808."

"Here's the awesome sounding 4ms Phaseur Moire pedal. We're running a super fat Cwejman VCO-6 square wave into it.

This phaser has 3 LFO's for modulation. The main one in the middle, auxiliary A on the left, and auxiliary B that modifies the center LFO speed on the right. This can yield some very interesting results. There are also controls for main LFO speed, Height, Depth, Wave, Blend, Ring, Aux A Speed, Aux A Depth, Aux B Speed, and Aux B Depth. The artwork is awesome too!"

"Using the Machinedrum to drive a Korg MS10

1. Set up a GND-IMP machine and a GND-SIN machine, in global setting route each of these to their own output - I used E and F in this example.

2. For the GND-IMP machine set it UP to 0, UVAL to 0, DOWN to 64 and DVAL to 127, set the track level and volume to maximum. This will be your trigger pulse, so connect a lead from the output you assigned this machine to into the MS10 trigger input. (output E in my case)

3. For the GND-SIN set it at maximum level and volume, also turn DIST in the routing page fully up (127), set the RAMP and RDEC to zero. This will be your pitch control, route it from its output on the MD you selected earlier into the VCO CV input. (output F in my case)

4. Select accent track and set it to max for all steps and all tracks, it is important that you do this or it won't work as the accent boosts the juice a bit.

5. Program some triggers for the IMP machine, then place triggers on the same steps for the SIN machine, using parameter locks on the PTCH control you can change the pitch played by the MS10, experiment with different envelope settings on the MS and different triggers for the IMP and SIN machines.

As you can tell from the video, there are a few limitations with this technique, first the pitch is not linear and does not act as anything like normal scaling, second on the MS10 you get some bleed though of the SIN sound. If you are electronically minded it should be feasable to build a little circuit to boost the CV output a bit.

You can also route the SIN to the V/OCT input or the filter CV input on the MS10, just remember to set the ENV/EXT knob on the VCO or VCF to a high setting or you won't get as much modulation. This can yield some interesting sounds, have fun and experiment. If you use the V/OCT input you can change the base pitch by playing the keyboard on the MS10.

This technique can also work with other synths or devices with CV inputs with varying degrees of success. Also you can use the LFO on the pitch of the SIN machine for some weird fx.

"I'm looking for Keyboard Magazine Patch Pages, which they published in the late 80's and early 90's in their magazine monthly, a series of cryptic charts containing parameters and numbers for certain synths, i.e. D-50, DX-7, SQ80... you name it, they had it.

There were lots of unusual and great sounds (I remember trying them out on my D50 back then) and lots of shitty sounds. However, what I'm after are the Oberheim Xpander patches published in 1987 (86-88), especially a sound called "BONONG", which was a great analog FM approximation of a large Gamelan bell. To my ears back then it sounded really great."

If anyone knows where to find them or can translate the patch for Petri, please comment or contact me directly. My contact info is on the bottom of the right section of the site.
