RRP £24.99 inc VAT

Beatalogue is the fourth title in Ian Boddy's Waveforms series of sample libraries. As a follow up to Drumalogue this one takes as it's starting material a selection of electronic drum patterns and loops which are then fed through Boddy's massive modular synth system. These are then filtered, mangled and generally messed up using a huge number of modules all in the analogue domain. All the loops have between 3 and 5 variations and sonically range from sweet filtering all the way through to completely crunched and twisted mayhem. The quality of the distortion and overdrive achieved using these techniques gives the loops a gorgeous organic feel which is further heightened by the sound of the modular itself with it's fuzzy warmness and tripping envelopes.

The sounds are also provided in Rex2 and Apple Loops format enabling them to be used at various tempos and dissected by the end user for their own purposes.

Oberheim OB-X "Space Sweeps"

"vintage synth demo by RetroSound

Oberheim OB-X 8-Voice Analog Synthesizer (1979)

'Space Sweeps'

inspired by C. Sagan`s series COSMOS from the 80s

The Oberheim OB-X is one of the best analog poly-synths ever. A classic! The sound is stunning, organic and very powerful. The sound character (based of the discrete circuits and the SEM design VCF) is different to the later curtis chip based OB-Xa and OB-8.

MODULAR NOODLES!!!

YouTube via FatSynthDude
"So dude on Gearslutz came up with a cool idea: How many patch cables can you pop into your modular and still make a usable sound? Well, that thread kind of died real quick and I liked the idea, so I thought I would attempt to contribute. There's no way that this patch could make it up to that many cables going at once (the original poster on that thread's modular had about seventy-five cables plugged into it) as my poor neglected Dot Com is only barely about the spec for the entry system. I could have cheated and patched in my semimodular synths as well, but due to the makeup of my studio, the Dot Com is on the other side of the room from the rest of my synths and I don't currently have any 1/4"-1/8" cables, so making that happen is something that's going to have to wait a while. This mess of cables only comes in at 31 cables unfortunately. :-( Still, this is also a good video to show off the modular in and of itself with it's custom paint job and all that fun stuff.

And yes, I recorded this using the camera's mic. I'm fat. I'm lazy. I'm AWESOME!!!"

Electrocomp EML 101

via this auction

"Rare, made-in-Connecticut Electrocomp EML-101 Synthesizer in EXCELLENT **ORIGINAL** Condition. A few minor chips on the case and it's missing the handle (what else is new?) and a few of the latches are new BUT it hasn't been modded and has ALL its original knobs and the graphics are crystal clear. Only a college inventory number is scratched over the "ElectroComp" log (see in pictures).

It's been professionally renovated by www.analogsynthservice.com including ALL NEW KEYBOARD BUSHINGS and sounds and plays great. The keyboard has a few uneven keys but otherwise you have a thick "scary sounding" 4 oscillator monster with patch bay capabilities. It's temperamental for sure and NOT a synth for the faint of heart. But it's a living, breathing analog beast that, plugged through my tape echo, provided me with hours of lost-in-space musical bliss. I have a seriously killer CMS renovated 2600 and I'm hardly ever playing so it's time to let the 101 go to a good home be it studio or stage."
