XILS-lab polyKB

"The polyKB is a polyphonic substractive synthesizer based on two waveform morphing, aliasing free oscillators and a self oscilating 4 poles low pass filter.

The oscillators take a large part of the sound of this synthesizer but the filter recreating a standard analog chip of the 80's with the help of of very complete modulation section allow the polyKB to create incredible and warm sounds, from georgous bass to slow evoluting pad, through agressive lead and thin cristal keyboards, without fogoten a wide range of special effects.

The modulation section of the polyKB acts like a matrix with five dedicated sources (LFO, ADSR,VCO,NOISE,VELOCITY) and five dedicated destinations (VCO 1 and 2 pitch, VCO 1 and 2 waveform,VCF frequency).

To increase the sound design possibilities, six menus have being added, two for the sources, four for the destination, with which a wide range of modules can be choosen

(Velocity, sequencer ouputs, LFO freq, Filter res, VCO levels, to name but a few)

The polyKB brings also a very powerful polyphonic sequencer.

The sequencer can record and play 8 voices independently as well as the pitch than the velocity. To control the sequence, a 2 to 128 steps clock system allows a wide range of rythms and patterns.

Of course the sequencer outputs can be assigned as a source of modulation, opening the sound posibilities endless."

Hohner Little Lady

via Philippe Van den Berge

"I have stumbled here on a strange and unknown hohner keyboard. Unknown because I seem to find no information whatsoever about it. I have mailed hohner germany today, and i hope they will have some answers. On the other hand, they may not, so I thought about letting you know about it."

If anyone knows more about this one feel free to comment or email me. My contact info is on the bottom right of the site.

Update: DenDer wrote in to let me know this is for sale on synthforum.nl here. He will try to get some more info from the seller.

Update: description from the forum translated by DenDer:

"I have a Hohner Little Lady and it is a keyboard and not the harmonica. There is a built-in (analog) rhythm section which has the typical tango, swing, waltz beat in them. Thee sounds are very basic: Flute 16' Flute 8' Trombone 16' String 16' Clarinet 8' which can be used separately or together - say additive. He has a separate bass manual option, where the left half (first octave) accounts for the bass. Or automatically when the rhythm is running which Hohner calls "magic bass" Wooohoo!
There is an aluminum stand which strongly reminds me of a Yamaha CS80. There are also "wood side panels" present. The Little Lady also has a build in speaker on the underside of the case."

Update: you can find an mp3 via Philippe of the Little Lady here.

Update: pics of the inside added below.

Update: this was also branded as the SKYLINE FORTYNINE P. Thanks goes to David L for writing in to let us know!

HOHNER STRING PERFORMER SYNTHESIZER

via this auction
"Vintage 1980s Hohner String Performer synthesizer. This is an extremely rare synthesizer, and the same type of keyboard Moby used for his string sounds on almost all of his albums, giving you that huge fat sustained string sound. Sounds for this synth include Piano, Bass, Clavichord, Cello, Viola, Violin, Brass, String, Clarinet, Planet, and Octave setting. The Piano, Bass, Clavichord, Cello, Viola, and Violin have individual level faders for upper and lower registers, as well as, a sustain fader; and the Brass, String, Clarinet, and Planet sounds have a solo volume fader. The rear of this unit includes: General, Bass, Strings, Piano/Clav. Solo, Sustain Piano, and Footswell 1/4" inputs; and an 18volt power adapter input (power cord is included in this auction). This is a very cool German engineered synth that also doubles as a carrying case with a flip of the latches. This synth is extremely hard to find"

dark age tone generator with midi bends

"circuit bent yamaha mu5 multi-timbral synth with midi bend interface by spunkytoofers. midi circuitry by highly liquid. precision oscillators by getlofi.

a 24 point patchbay is freely routed to manual control or midi. circuit bent wavesequencing is controlled via midi from the dsi evolver. the evolver is used to send evolving sequences and is only used for control information of the midi interface. all sounds from the dark age tone generator is played via onboard interface.

a midi bend interface can only be made upon commision. for more details: www.spunkytoofers.com"

UBS: Sherman REstyler and Juno-G for live performance test.

YouTube via adoremotion
"Small test with the Juno-G with a very simple basic moog patch going into the sherman REstyler. This will probably be the main live keyboard setup for uncertain boxed saviour.
The Juno-G is also a great sampler ! Melody loop plays from the Juno-G's sequencer.

I've used a similar setup with a Jomox M-resonator but the input distortion isn't that good and too muddy. Sherman shines and blows the resonator away for this type of work: fatten digital synths.
