What the Square Stepper can do
The Square Stepper has 8 oscillators that can be turned on or off individually with the corresponding switches. The sequencer will run through the steps even when they are turned off, you just won't hear them. You can select the amount of steps the sequencer will run through with the 'step' dial. It has 12 positions, from 1 to 8 steps, and then 1 to 4 again, allowing you to change quickly from a large amount of steps to a small amount! The 'sequencer speed' dial changes the overall tempo of the sequence. In the top range of the 'speed' dial you can get frequency modulation type sounds. This works best if the pitch dials for each step are set reasonably high. There are photosresistors on steps 1 and 5, which can be turned on individually to work in conjuction with the pitch pot. You can then change the pitch of these steps by either blocking, or letting in more light, like a theremin! When the sequencer is running fast, and you switch through the steps with the 'step' dial you can create interesting arpeggios that way too! Due to variables between components, the pitch range on each dial may vary slightly."

See the seller's other items for more modules.

"Convert incoming MIDI signals to either SDS Triggers or various Gates from the different outputs. Think of the possibilities!

this re-released version of the midi-2-sds retains the same features as the original version 2 model:
converts midi signals into sds triggers, you can use it to fire other drum machines
the unit has 8 trigger outputs, each of which is velocity sensitive
control of the 'gate' time is via an onboard preset (~1ms to ~132ms),
it has a 'learn' mode, which lets you assign different notes to different triggers
it has 8 leds, so you can see which channel is being triggered and which channel you are 'teaching'.

in addition it includes the following additional features:
adjustable upper and lower trigger output voltages. upper voltage adjustable from 5v to 10v
dipswitch option to invert all trigger pulses (positive-to-negative, typically +5v to 0v)

this module has a maximum current draw of 15ma. it requires 14 hp/te worth of space to fit in a eurorack frame."

"Sadly no scrambled speech capabilities on this german version machine, but there is enough minimal sounding Techno Loops and Glitch sounds to make it worth the effort.
Also added touch points for Bleepy Squarewaves and a Dirty Bass Oscillator."

squidfanny - Circuit bent 'SUPER TALKING WHIZZ KID'

squidfanny | February 05, 2011 |

"Another wicked Vtech toy with an array of inspiring electronic Glitch sounds, Techno Loops and Scrambled Speech as only circuit bent gear can provide :)

Like many 90's Vtechs, this machine has 'copyright protection' to prevent Chinese companys making cheap copys of the machine by ripping the Rom data.
Sadly this limits the machines 'bending potential, but the copyright message is still a pretty cool easter egg.

Added 6 x Glitch switches, Screaming Feedback Oscillator, Volume Knob (from silence to distorted), Copyright Button, Flashing Envelope LED Light and Metal Bolt-Bay for additional sounds and also for interfacing with other squidfanny machines."

"A short but interesting dubstep track made with iMS-20 app on the iPad. I use automation to change the tempo-based LFO speed on the bass to create the typical wobbling effect."
