RIP Steve Jobs

http://www.apple.com/

The image file name is aptly t_hero.png. He really was a hero. Truly inspiring and responsible for so much in our world. It's fascinating to think about the impact iOS devices have had and will have on the world of synths. Thank you Steve. We will miss you.

via the Apple site:
"Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.

If you would like to share your thoughts, memories and condolences, please email rememberingsteve@apple.com"

Sequential Circuits MultiTrak CPU PCB

via this auction

"Up for auction is a pair of PCBs pulled from a non working SCI multitrak. They are marked PC615-1-A (smaller board) and PC615-2-A (larger board) and are connected via a series of wires. The Boards are all intact except the power switch, which has been replaced by a DPDT switch. The boards are very clean, and are Revision A. This is a good find if you need buttons, button caps, pots, chips, LCD, or want to repair the board. This auction does not include the voice board, which can be seen under PC615-2-A in a couple of the pics. Lots of good parts!"

Vintage Hohner Symphonic 30N Combo Organ

via this auction

"The Hohner Symphonic N sounds similar to a Vox Continental or Farfisa Deluxe. But at only 43 lbs it's much lighter and more portable. Instead of electronic circuits, it uses vacuum tubes to produce sound. Apparently John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin used it briefly in the early 1970's. The lid holds the legs, music stand and vibrato knee bar (all included).

Here's a photo of Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones with his Hohner Symphonic 30N organ (on right above Fender Rhodes electric piano)"

Raymond Scott's MANHATTAN RESEARCH INC.

via raymondscott.com
"Prepare yourself. This collection of Raymond Scott's electronic music is your ticket to uncharted realms. These 1953-'69 recordings were performed by Raymond Scott on pioneering music machines designed and built by Scott, such as the Clavivox, Electronium, Circle Machine, and Bandito the Bongo Artist. Also included are soundtracks of Scott's maverick (and decidedly 'non-kiddie') film collaborations with pre-Muppet era Jim Henson. A 144-page hardcover book features interviews with Scott colleagues, including synthesizer innovator, Bob Moog. The full-color book also contains countless unseen photographs, lab notes, schematics, and US patents. Over 2 hours of music... (Note: This is NOT a reissue; all music is previously unreleased.)"
