"More info: http://bit.ly/GYc2y5
In April, Dubspot hosted a special 'Production 101' workshop at the Downtown Independent in Los Angeles with Ableton Certified Dubspot Instructors Thavius Beck, Professor Nalepa, and a few special guests. The evening focused predominently on new technology including the debut of Keith McMillen Instruments' QuNeo controller and a special overview of Teenage Engineering's OP1 by Thomas White (Natural Rhythm).

In the second part of this video recap, house music producer and synth enthusiast Thomas White (Natural Rhythm) joins the workshop with a demonstration and performance with Teenage Engineering's OP1 synthesizer/4 track recorder. The OP1 is an all-in-one production and performance device that offers synthesis, sampling, digital recording and effects in a small and beautifully designed package. White takes this incredible instrument through its paces and explains how this device changed his production flow at large."

Five Notes on the Newly Announced Microsoft Surface

The bullet points for me on the Microsoft Surface:

- The Pro version should have MIDI! You might remember from this post, Windows RT for ARM processors will most likely not have MIDI support, so go with Pro if you need it (unless they disable it for some bizarre reason). The Pro version is the full blown Windows 8 OS.

- VSTs on the tablet! With the full blown OS you should have access to every VSTi out there. The big question will be how well they work with a touch interface - tiny buttons, knobs and sliders, rotational vs. horizontal dragging of the controls, etc..

- Processing power and RAM? How well will VSTs run on it?

- Battery life? How long can it run processor intensive VSTs?

- Built in USB

If you have any notes, feel free to comment.

Sphero Orb Controller for Android & iOS

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated. "How much tech can you pack in a 3 inch sphere? Start with a sensor network – multi-axis rate gyro and accelerometer – fused together with the same kind of math that took Apollo to the Moon. Power it with lithium polymer batteries that are inductively recharged through the shell and add a Bluetooth-based command and control data link. Finally, mix in over-the-air firmware updates and internally sandboxed language extensions and you have a true robot that is an intelligent component of a smartphone app-based gaming, learning, and human-machine interaction system. Driving Sphero from the central app is just the start. An open API for iOS and Android invites developers around the world to dive right in…Oh, and Sphero is just fun."

Fairlight CMI series 3 explained - Setting up voices + audio routing

YouTube Published on Jun 18, 2012 by karelpostthuis

"A simple explanatory video about the first setup for using the Fairlight CMI series 3.

Because there were no video's or other explanatory material about using this infernal machine i thought it would be helpful for newbie users.

The video covers the setup and loading sounds for playback and mixdown.
It also covers the configuration of the 24 channel router / mixer and assigning monophonic or polyphonic output busses.

At the end is a demo from an external sequencer (the magic Atari TT030 with Cubase 3.0 Atari) and the loading of a pre-programmed instrument line-up"
