Arp Pro Soloist 2701 SN 273863

Pics of the inside below.
"For repair is a ARP Pro Soloist in good cosmetic condition with only very minor oxidation in some places (as seen in pictures). The ARP powers on and makes noise, and all of the "voices" seem to work as well as the octave transpose. However, the problem is that all keys produce the same pitch without variance for each voice. Imagine a guitar fitted with six identical strings, that's sort of what it's like.

This unit was purchased at auction in a rotted out anvil case. The dried out foam substance from the case was stuck to the synthesizer inside and out. The outside has been almost completely cleaned off (you can still see some blue residue in some of the pictures which should come off with further cleaning). Unfortunately, one of the side panels is broken so the stuff got onto the boards inside. I cleaned off what I could get to without removing anything, and as you can see in the pictures, the boards look fine after a simple dusting with a DRY rag.

Cosmetically, the unit is very good. The keys are very clean with virtually no scratches and no sticky keys like those found on almost every synthesizer produced in the 70's. Only one slider cap out of four is left but it is chipped so it's not of much use. I also have the screws for the broken side panel. They appear to just need to be glued in place so that should be an easy fix. The (original?, not sure) music stand is also included. It has to be screwed in place if you ever need to use it."

"Polivoks is the portable electronic musical synthesizer which is designed for playing different musical compositions of any genre. It is also intended for creating some musical effects in cinema and play scoring, in studio. There are 4 octaves on the keyboard. The inclined desk is divided into the following functional sections: Modulator, Generator #1, Generator #2, Mixer and Amplifier. They give one a possibility to synthesize a broad spectrum of sounds and to change sounding at any time. There are 3 internal audible signal sources in the instrument: to broad-ranged of the Generators with changed form of oscillations and a noise generator for creating a non-musical sounds such as wind, surf, whine, etc.Possibility to connect an external audible signal sources to the synthesizer is provided for (e.g. guitars, electropianos and electroorgans). Sounds of different external sources are combined separatly in the mixer in any ratio. There is a filter in the synthesizer with cutoff frequency control and resonance to change colour of timbre of audilble signal over a wide range."

Yusynth Diode Ladder Filter

"The Yusynth Diode Ladder VCF sounds incredible. I love the brassiness you can get with this filter. The voltage control of the resonance is a great feature. Another vintage filter design sweetened by the synth guru Yves Usson. Custom designed Front Panel by Free State FX and engraved by Front Panel Express. The PCB was assembled parallel with the Front Panel which creates a very shallow module and measures less than two inches deep. The Yusynth Diode Ladder VCF is a wonderful addition to every cabinet.

Here is some information about the Diode Ladder Filter from the Yusynth Website:

'Well, here is another classical and very special filter based on the EMS diode ladder filter! This filter has a sound of its own and is the signature of the classical Pink Floyd's song "On the run".

My aim here was to design a quite faithful copy of this mythic filter while using components that minimize the burden of selecting a great number of matched transistors. This is why I used transistor arrays (CA3046, CA3096). However, because the CA3096 has become a rare part and is now overpriced, I have also designed a PCB with discrete trannies to replace it. As for all the other filters of my YUSYNTH project, I have added an input and an output buffer to adapt this filter to the input and output levels of my modular system. I also added an input for voltage control of the resonance : everything was there in the original module but was not made available, probably because of the limited size of the patch pin matrix of the AKS/VCS3... Because, my power supply standard is +15/-15V, I have included a power regulator IC (78L12) to convert +15V to +12V and a single transitor voltage regulator -15V to -9V (I wanted to use a 79L09 but changed my mind when I realized that this voltage regulator is quite a rare part and is difficult to source).' - Yves Usson
