"This is a one of a kind, it's a handmade set of bass pedals, the board was made by Howard Cano and it's called the Saurus: it's an all analog programmable with 28 memories synth.

2 oscillators, with digital frequency control for drift-free performance. Osc 1 is tuned to 16' (low C=32.7 Hz) and Osc 2 is tuned to 8'. They have variable detuning to give a very thick sound when used together.

A pseudo-random noise generator with a cicle time of more than four minutes

A real analog ADSR

A real analog VCF (24 dB/octave)

VCA.

easy to use programming interface: everything is done via the LED display and five pushbutton switches., no other components are needed.

I build it to be very small and portable, it has a lexan case which is kind of scratched but it's also very sturdy, it has 13 (notes) pushbuttons or "keys" (1octave) midi in to control it's internal sounds. A line level 1/4" audio phone jack which you just conect to an amp."

Modular Show

Published on Sep 20, 2012 by ISOTROPOSPHERE

"This was a patch mostly exploring the uses of the Make Noise Rene module.
After connecting with friends on facebook that I met at the Muff Wiggler Cave show in Chapel Hill the patch progressed into a kind of tribute to those who performed, which I missed.
This is also showing off my modular cabinets which I designed and fabricated as if I had brought them down for all to see. I don't know how Vince Mecanikill does it, his system is HUGE."

Reaktor Tutorial: Building a Basic Synth

Reaktor Tutorial: Building a Basic Synth from FlipMu on Vimeo.

This Reaktor Tutorial serves as an introduction to Reaktor, and covers building a two oscillator synth.

The video starts with an overview of the Reakor manuals, and then looks at building the synth example from the getting started manual.

hps-octane teaser screecast v0.91

hps-octane step sequencer teaser v0.91 from hpsounds on Vimeo.

hps-octane is a MaxForLive MIDI step sequencer designed with a modular point of view. Each step is divided in 8 main parameters families:
- GATE : the note event is played or not, with a probability parameter for each step;
- REPEAT : the note event is repeated or not, with micro-step edit;
- NOTE : set the value in semitone of the note, with note randomizing;
- OCTAVE : set the octave value of the played note, with octave randomizing;
- VELOCITY : set the velocity of the played note, with velocity randomizing;
- DURATION : set the duration of the played note;
- CONTROL 1 / CONTROL 2 : set the MIDI controller or remote Ableton Live parameter.

Each of these parameters has a TAB. Each TAB is in fact an independent sequencer with its own start and end step (so each sequencer can have its own lenght) with different motions (up, down, up&down, random, random w/ no repeat) or can be linked to the GATE TAB.

There is a nearly full remote and tactile control of up-to 8 instances from a custom Liine Lemur layout through OSC protocol, with an automatic iPad Lemur detection. Most of the parameters are MIDI controllable and clips "automatable" too.

Each instance has preset memories, and can be synchronized to Ableton Live or clip triggered which is a much more flexible way to play (a modular step sequencer with the full benefit of clip launching :-)

hps-octane teaser screecast v0.91 from hpsounds on Vimeo.

"Here is a screencast of the hps-octane step sequencer MaxForLive device, running in Ableton Live. The sequencer here is triggered by MIDI clips, which can include the step duration (with groove possibility), a reset at step one trigger, an on the fly preset change (via MIDI program change).

In the first part, hps-octane is remote controlled by a custom OSC Lemur template on an iPad. You can see presets and TABs parameters switching without the use of the mouse. For a proper interaction with the iPad, please check our previous video.

On the second part, we are using MIDI clips to switch presets.

Nota : nothing quite musical in this video :-)"

DIY Ondes Martenot MIDI Controller 2012

"Here is my video showing how my self-made Ondes Martenot MIDI Controller prototype works. I used an Arduino to control software synthesizer "KORG Legacy Collection Mono/Poly for Mac OS X" in this system. At the end of this video, I played "The Swan (Saint-Saens)" on my Ondes Martenot MIDI Controller.
