Hallucination

"Once again I find myself indulging in some retro dark soundtrack work. This time the opening credit theme for the sci-fi film I never made. A slowly evolving track that I wanted to play live and keep simple and raw.

Everything is played/sequenced live and is entirely analog except for the drums and built-in Andromeda FX.

Annotated as usual to keep me entertained and provide some info.

Synth nerd details:
- Electribe is clocking the Moon M569 sequencer through a M553 MIDI-to-Clock converter and M554 Clock Divider. Sequencer is controlling a tomoberheim.com SEM. Row 1 are main notes, and row 2 transposes those notes.
- Controlling the modular with a Novation Remote 25SL into a Moon M551 MIDI-to-Voltage converter. 3 MacBeth MK1 oscillators with individual glide settings into MK1 'A' Filter.
- Recorded straight into Digital Performer using a MOTU 828 MK3 audio interface.
- Shot in HD with a Canon Rebel t4i. Put together in iMovie.

I hope you dig it."

"The day has arrived. Despite this album being my most personal and emotional album release, I am really happy that it’s finally out of my hands. I’ll elaborate much more in another post about the making of La Petite Mort, but for now I think that it’s important to mention that this is absolutely an album that’s meant to be played in its entirety from beginning to end. Originally I was going to release this all as a single hour long track, but I decided to break it up since I know a lot of people won’t sit listening through all the way. I hope you do though, because the journey through this album is crafted in such a way that it should evoke some type of emotional response."

CGS Serge Programer Sequencer / Thank you LX

Published on Oct 11, 2012 by Dmitri SFC

"I asked LX how to divide a clock using only old serge modules. He said use the Sequencer module, patch the clock into it and reset it on a short loop, patch out of one of the active steps and clock is divided from original! I wanted to see if i could get the programmer to step backwards momentarily and on beat so i patched one of the clocks into one direction of the programer and patched the other into the peak and trough along with a slew then into the programer ."
