"The Elevata is a virtual analog poly-synth with a back-to-basic's interface and big analog sounds. The same DSP analog modeling synthesizer technology used in the DarkStar has been beefed up for this sound module. The front panel swivels 90 degrees to facilitate rack-mounting or desktop use. Several hands-on knobs are plainly laid out for the oscillator, filter, envelope, and LFO sections in a simple, streamlined and intuitive interface.

It is 16-voice polyphonic and has 8 multi-timbral parts. There are two analog modeling oscillators per voice with square, sawtooth, sine & formant waveforms. The filter is a 2-pole (12dB/oct) with switchable low-, high-, or band-pass modes. There are ADSR envelopes for the filter and VCA sections and two syncable LFOs with multiple waveforms. You will also find portamento, a basic arpeggiator, chorus and flange effects, and a joystick controller assignable to any modulatable parameter. There are no reverb or delay effects unfortunately.

Every parameter has a knob or switch just a hand-grab away, so creating sounds is quick and easy on the Elevata. The Sound Wizard is a cool function that randomizes various parameters. This allows you to experiment with creating random sounds, hopefully leading to some happy accidents! Your custom creations can be stored in any of 127 user patches. There are also 127 preset patches and 90 multi-patches (aka performances). The Multi-patches can have up to eight different patches for creating some very lush arrangements."

Details on the MIDI:

"MP-KBD MIDI retrofit enables your Korg Mono / Poly to be controlled via MIDI. You can remotely control the keyboard and speed of the arpeggiator by MIDI commands. The instrument then works like MIDI sound expander. All working modes of the instrument and controllers on instrument's panel stay fully workable with installed interface.

Features:

The interface controls up to four keys simltaneously so the instrument can work in both Mono and Poly modes.
Instrument's keyboard can be controlled manually and by MIDI Note On/Off commands simultaneously.
The keyboard can be transposed in whole range of MIDI notes.
Four modes of key priority can be chosen: Last / Higher / Lower / None.
Tone generators can be tuned by MIDI Pitch Wheel command. The bend range is from 0 to ±2 octaves.
Arpeggiator can be synchronized with original internal tempo generator or external MIDI clock.
Number of MIDI channel for communication is user programmable. OMNI mode can be chosen, alternatively.
Default values of all parameters are user programmable - they can be stored into internal memory.
MIDI implementation - reception only:

"It has a single oscillator with PWM, ramp, square and noise waveforms. Very similar architecture to the SH-101 and sounds very much like it. The VCA can switch between gate or envelope giving it a greater range for sound shaping. The VCF sound really nice as simple it as. Extremely thick Bass and Lead sounds, that’s what you get with fully analog synth!

There is a sample-hold function which is great for voltage controlled filtering into acid and back! Think TB-303 and if pushed, the resonance will squelch, phlegm, and bubble into analog heaven. Another cool feature is its external input which will allow you to filter external audio through its VCF..."
