Juno-60 through Sony HR-MP5

Published on Nov 4, 2013 SynthMania·285 videos

"I originally bought a Sony HR-MP5 multi-effect processor when it came out in the '90s. It broke irreparably in the early 2000s, and I've missed it since. Recently I had the opportunity to buy an HR-MP5 and HR-GP5 (the version for guitar) together as a combo deal, and was taken back in time by listening to the mesmerizing sound of the HR-MP5. Here are a few examples of the great FX of this small but cool machine."

Arturia Microbrute Available For Purchase

I believe this is the first one I've seen on eBay.

"The new Arturia MicroBrute is the next generation of the Brute family of synthesizers The little brother of the award winning, modern classic: MiniBrute The MicroBrute is smaller in size but retains the pure analog sound, the famed Steiner-Parker filter as well as Arturia's multiple wave oscillator with wave-shapers No shortcuts were taken in making sure that the MicroBrute sound stands up to any analog synth on the market

New Features

Step sequencer: Arturia has added a new step sequencer for generating patterns This easy-to-us step sequencer is reminiscent of sequencers found on the Sequential Circuits Pro One as well as the rare and classic Oberheim DS-2a.

Updated Sub-oscillator: The new sub-oscillator allows for adding an octave down as well as the ability to mix in a 5th up harmonic This allows this single oscillator synth to sound like a monster with multiple oscillators.

Mod Matrix: The Mod Matrix patchbay allows you to route 3 modulation sources, ENV, LFO and Keyboard CV (on the rear panel) to any of 6 modulation destinations This semi modular capability allows for many sound-making capabilities.

The MicroBrute is the smallest and most powerful analog synth on the market and it promises to set a new standard for analog synth sound and price.

Features

Same oscillator design as MiniBrute
Ultrasaw, Pulse width, Metalizer wave-shapers
Steiner-Parker multimode filter: High Pass, Low Pass, Band Pass modes
Brute factor
Sync to external MIDI clock
LFO with 3 waveforms: Saw, Tri, Square
Step sequencer with 8 memory locations

1972 Interview with Stevie Wonder on Moog

Stevie Wonder back in 1972: "A lot of people don't consider the Moog an instrument, in a sense, and they feel it's gonna take a lot of work away from musicians and all that. But I feel it is an instrument and is a way to directly express what comes from your mind. It gives you so much of a sound in the broader sense. What you're actually doing with an oscillator is taking a sound and shaping it into whatever form you want. Maybe a year and a half ago I couldn't have done these kinds of tracks. I don't know. I think your surroundings and environment have a great deal to do with what come out of you, how you write. I wrote Evil, for instance, in the studios the day after Memorial Day – which is the same as your Remembrance Day – and did it straight away."

Yamaha CS40M Analogue Synthesizer SN 2553

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

The CS40M is a 4 oscillator duophonic analogue synthesizer with memories (20 of them).

The sound is big, warm and smooth - that great CS filter shines through - flexible enough to cover huge basses (2 additional subbass sinewaves in the VCA section), strong leads and weird percussive effects. This is due in no small part to the envelopes for both the VCA and Filter sections that are switchable between x5 and Normal for additional precision in shaping your sounds.

The CS40M has a super fast LFO with multiple waveforms, that can be changed independently at the destination (S&H at Filter, Pulse at OSC1, etc).

There's also a wonderful ring modulator and a 3rd envelope for routing to the oscillators and LFO.

Plus you have a nice set of performance controls to the left of the keyboard, including knobs and sliders that give you additional control over filter cutoff and envelope sustain..."
