Bill Nye below.  How are these even related?  Well, they aren't directly, but I found them both on the Experimental Music on Children's TV tumblr.  Click through for more.  Some have been posted here on MATRIXSYNTH in the past, but they are always fun to check out again.  This one in via John Mohoney on Facebook.   BTW, if anyone finds the video for Bill Nye below, let us know!

Update via Ian Short in the comments: "You can see him playing the Juno-60 at 1:50."

Trip to the Catacombs - Buchla timbral improv

Published on Feb 24, 2014 djangosfire·170 videos

"I was inspired by a recent Todd Barton Buchla clip/patch, that featured a 294r 4-Channel Comb Filter... So while exploring a similar idea, using 4x channels of a 295r Comb Filter... I came up with this "Trip to the Catacombs" Buchla timbral improv!

There is allot going on in the patch. But basically, the very CORE of the patch is:

- 258r into a 277r Delay
- 277r Delay into a 295r Comb Filter
- 4 separate channels of the 295r out into 4x separate 292 LPG channels
- 4 LPG channels into a 207r mixer, mixed and panned into stereo
- 207r stereo out into 2x channels of the 227r mixer
- KEY PART OF THE SOUND is I have 4x different 208r Random Voltage outs opening and closing the 4x separate LPG channels!
- also, the 277r delay is feedback into itself... so you get nice repeats.... and remember, the delay out is the ONLY audio going into the 295r comb filter.

Of course, there is sequencing via the 208r, and transposing via 218e Presets (also used to control the cross mod FM amount of the 258r).

Thanks for checking out the vid!!

Jim's T&T Integrating iPad into Keyboard Rig with Mainstage

Published on Feb 15, 2014 Jim McLaren·38 videos

"Jim McLaren of INCURA here. This video explores how to integrate an iPad or external MIDI sound module, into a standard keyboard rig using Apple mainstage. Using Audiobus, I load up three powerful synthesizers in the iPad and then use mainstage to switch between them and integrate them with other sounds within mainstage.

Using this technique, you never have to do any switching on your iPad and you can use the same keyboard controller that you would use to control mainstage. You can also adjust splits and layers the same way you would with any other patch with the mainstage. Very useful and powerful options here!"
