S-Cat Dub Synth VS Korg Monotribe 1st experimental jam

Published on Dec 29, 2014 darenager

"Just got the Dub Synth so thought I'd experiment using it in a quick jam with the Monotribe. The Monotribe is triggering the Dub Synth, changing the decay time so that it is overlapping the triggers results in some nice rhythmic variations, good fun! More soon."

BugBrand Modular - Morphing Terrarium groove - 02

Published on Dec 29, 2014

"I let the camera run after the end of Patch 08. This is an excerpt of what was recorded while I was messing around with the Morphing Terrarium, switching manually between different wavetables (2nd module top left).

Cool is that the morphing between different waves can easely be automated or voltage controlled via Morph CV INs."

Alesis Andromeda A6 & Oberheim Xpander

Published on Dec 29, 2014 AudioCentralMagazine

"The venerable Oberheim Xpander is under MIDI control from Alesis Andromeda A6. Both these spectacular polysynths come from the same minds. A6 is under Arpeggio (sadly, no MIDI Out for Arpeggio) and Xpander has a LFO Saw modulation on Cutoff Frequency."

"Jag vill ha en egen måne" - on Roland JV-35

Published on Dec 29, 2014 organfairy

"I got this keyboard very cheap because it was pretty obvious that it had been in the hands of teenagers (it came from a school).
I could off course try and contact the local Roland supplier to get some new keys if possible. But I decided that I would try and cut some pieces from an old worn out keyboard from an organ I scrapped many years ago.
The operation went relatively well so I will probably keep it like this.

At first sight the Roland JV-35 keyboard is just another general MIDI affair. But because it has a build-in signal processor and edit sliders for cut-off, resonance, attack, decay, release, and vibrato it is actually a quite nice little synthesizer. At least that is my impressions after using it for a short while.

The music is from Sweden this time. Ted Gärdestad was a very popular teenage star in the early 1970's. Backed up by Björn Ulveaus and Benny Anderson - who later formed ABBA - he had several hits in his home country. And one of them was this song called "Jag vill ha en egen måne" which I here play on the Roland JV-35."

DEXED - Open source DX7 librarian / emulator VSTi demo

Published on Nov 4, 2014 artofdreammusic

"An insight into the powers of DEXED v0.8, the open-source DX7 librarian / emulator VSTi.

This great VSTi can be used both as a DX7 librarian to edit patches and send them to your DX7 synth (if you own one) but also as an emulator as it's built in engine recreates quite faithfully I think the sound of the DX7 synth.

The sounds in this demo come from the DEXED engine, not from a hardware DX7... Sometimes reverb has been added in the daw (and in this case, it's noted).

DEXED was created by Digital Suburban and can be downloaded for free here : https://github.com/asb2m10/dexed

DEXED loads original DX7 sysex, so google them to find great presets to start working with it... but never forget that true synth lovers like to tweak their machines, and this has never been that easy for the DX as it is since DEXED exists :-)

Have fun with DEXED... and your DX7 if you are the lucky owner of one."
